Overview of Responsibilities
The EHS Manager is responsible for implementing and maintaining effective Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) programs in the manufacturing facility. This position ensures compliance with Malaysia’s regulatory requirements (DOSH, DOE, etc.), manages chemical and scheduled waste handling, oversees environmental monitoring, and leads safety initiatives to create a safe and compliant workplace.
Key Responsibilities
1. Legal Compliance
- Ensure factory operations comply with OSHA 1994, FMA 1967, and EQA 1974.
- Prepare and submit all required reports to DOSH, DOE, and relevant authorities.
- Maintain updated knowledge of EHS legislation and regulatory changes.
2. Scheduled Waste & CEPSWAM Management
Manage scheduled waste storage, labeling, transfer, and disposal in compliance with CEPSWAM standards.Coordinate waste collection and disposal activities with licensed contractors.3. Environmental Monitoring
Monitor emissions, noise levels, and water discharge quality to ensure compliance with DOE requirements.Coordinate environmental sampling, testing, and reporting schedules.4. Chemical Waste Control
Oversee safe storage, usage, and disposal of industrial chemicals used in production.Maintain chemical inventory and Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS).5. PPE & Safety Equipment Management
Manage and track PPE issuance and usage, especially for high-risk work areas.Evaluate PPE suitability and ensure proper training for staff on PPE use.6. Safety Planning & Risk Assessment (HIRARC)
Develop and implement factory-specific safety plans and standard operating procedures.Conduct HIRARC risk assessments and implement preventive measures to reduce hazards.Investigate incidents and recommend corrective and preventive actions.7. Training & Emergency Response
Conduct EHS awareness training, drills, and briefings for employees.Lead the Emergency Response Team (ERT) and ensure readiness in case of emergencies.Authority
