Overview
Epsom College Malaysia seeks to employ a fully qualified and experienced Physical Education teacher to deliver a broad and varied sports curriculum across all Key Stages. The role will involve devising and leading PE, Games, and swimming lessons, training teams, and assisting with fixtures and large tournaments. They will also be involved in contributing to the extensive co-curricular clubs that run before and after school. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to develop and lead a sports specialism, subject to the developing requirements of the department.
Responsibilities
- Lesson delivery across the school : teach PE and academic PE, ensuring a consistent and high-quality learning experience for students.
- Curriculum delivery : implement the PE curriculum across all year groups.
- Multi-sport coaching : demonstrate proficiency and coaching across a diverse range of sports including Basketball, Volleyball, Netball, Badminton, Hockey, Football, Cricket, Swimming, and Touch Rugby, and coach across sport within the school’s program.
- Teaching excellence : employ innovative, student-centred instructional methods to foster a love for PE, sport, and physical activity.
- Student engagement : encourage participation, decision-making, tactical awareness, and skill development for a healthy, active lifestyle.
- Inclusive teaching : create an inclusive learning environment for students of diverse abilities.
- Collaboration : work with PE colleagues and across the school to share best practices, contribute to curriculum development, and plan / organise sports events.
- Classroom management : maintain order and discipline in line with the school’s behaviour policy and keep an organised workspace.
- Assessment and progress tracking : implement assessment strategies and tracking tools, providing constructive feedback to support development.
- Co-curricular involvement : contribute to co-curricular sports activities, coach and organise teams for competitions, and participate in Saturday Sports activities, including organising internal tournaments or leading training sessions.
- Health and safety : prioritise student safety during PE and sports activities, following safety protocols.
- Professional development : engage in CPD to stay informed about trends, coaching techniques, and advances in sports education.
- Parent communication : maintain effective communication with parents about progress and upcoming events, and write comprehensive performance reports aligned with current teaching practices.
- Fixtures : participate in midweek and occasional Saturday fixtures to support students during competitions outside regular hours.
- Flexibility : provide cover for lessons and adapt to coach teams beyond the usual scope as required.
- Sporting residential involvement : attend sporting residential events when required, supervising activities and staying overnight if needed.
- Professional duties : fulfil duties as outlined by the school and participate in whole-school events to promote community cohesion.
- Meetings : attend departmental meetings to contribute to curriculum planning and improvement initiatives.
