Regional Legal Counsel

Reporting to the Head of Legal, this role will be responsible for providing day-to-day legal support to companies and business units within the Group, which spans across 13 Asia-Pacific markets.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide day-to-day legal advice to the business on contractual and other legal matters.
  • Draft, negotiate and / or review a wide variety of contracts e.g., tenancy, retailer, distribution, sub-distribution, service, and E-Commerce agreements.
  • Manage the process of contract reviews, renewals, terminations, and enforcement of contractual terms as necessary.
  • Collaborate with and facilitate cross-team decision-making among the Legal, Corporate Development, Finance team, business teams and other internal business units / teams within the Group.
  • Liaise with the senior management team and colleagues as necessary / appropriate.

Key Requirements

  • Qualified solicitor with post-qualification experience in (ideally between 7-8 PQE) recognized and reputable law firms with specific emphasis on commercial contract reviews, drafting, advice and process management.
  • Strong legal knowledge and technical fluency particularly in corporate law and procedures. Some experience in commercial litigation and general employment law desirable.
  • Willing to travel to and work out of Singapore on an ad-hoc basis, as and when necessary.
  • You must have a practical, business-oriented approach to identifying and effectively managing risks, and solving business / legal problems, and you must be able to thrive in a fast-paced environment, in a company that appreciates that legal complexity and risk require strong and skilled legal counsel. You need excellent communication skills in English and Mandarin, and be able to manage multiple, changing priorities efficiently, using discretion and judgment in executing assignments. You will be part of a larger organization that promotes and supports business being done within a culture of ethics and compliance. Collaboration and a team approach to working is a core part of the Legal department spirit and so that approach to work is critical.
