Senior Lecturer (Clinical) – Faculty of Medicine
Job Overview
This position is responsible for undertaking the teaching and learning activities of undergraduate students. This includes the design and delivery of the curriculum, as well as the assessment of learning. The role also covers student support and supervision, research, and administrative duties within the Faculty of Medicine.
Key Responsibilities
Teaching & Learning in Ophthalmology
- Undertakes teaching and related duties such as the design, preparation, and development of teaching materials; conducts classes / lectures, tutorials, and practical / bedside teaching; consults with students; and carries out invigilation, marking, and assessment in Ophthalmology (Years 3 & 5).
- Conducts clinical skills training for Years 3 & 5 students.
- Participates in and contributes to high-quality assurance programs and curriculum development.
- Plans and implements teaching strategies to optimize student learning and motivation.
Student Support & Supervision
Acts as a mentor and academic supervisor to groups of students.Research
Participates in scholarly activities, including research, conference presentations, journal publications, and relevant community work.Supervises undergraduate students from Years 3, 4, and 5 in Research Evidence-Based Medicine (REBM).Serves as a member of the Ophthalmology Unit.Participates in continuous professional development activities.Serves on the Professional Exam Committee for the First Professional, Part 1, and Part 2 Final Professional examinations.Acts as an internal examiner for the First Professional and Part 1 & Part 2 Final Professional examinations.Skills and Experiences
Medical Degree (MBBS / MD or equivalent) from a recognized institution.Master’s or PhD in a relevant medical or biomedical field or currently pursuing one.Registered with the Malaysian Medical Council (MMC) with a valid APC (if involved in clinical work).At least 2–3 years of teaching, clinical practice, or research experience.Strong communication and interpersonal skills.Proficiency in English (written and spoken).Preferred
Recognised teaching qualification or completion of a teaching certificate (e.g., Postgraduate Certificate in Higher Education).Experience in curriculum development and medical education technology.Indexed journal publications and research grant experience.#J-18808-Ljbffr
