Principle DBA (PostgreSQL) – WFH from anywhere Malaysia

Must : Malaysian

( Need to travel to Singapore office once in a while if required )

Years of experience : 10+ years (If only 5+ yrs hands on PostgreSQL DBA experience, can be considered as well)

Responsibilities

• Define the enterprise-wide database architecture strategy and roadmap in alignment with business and IT goals.
• Lead the design, implementation, and governance of scalable, secure, and high-performance data platforms using technologies such as Oracle, SQL Server, PostgreSQL , MongoDB, and cloud-native DBaaS (e.g., AWS RDS, Azure SQL, Google Cloud SQL).
• Drive automation, observability, and self-healing database infrastructure using CI / CD pipelines, and advanced monitoring tools.
• Serve as a technical advisor to senior leadership, influencing decisions on data strategy, cloud adoption, security, and compliance.
• Architect robust high availability (HA), disaster recovery (DR), replication, and backup strategies to support 24 / 7 operations.
• Establish and enforce best practices for database development, deployment, monitoring, and lifecycle management across teams.
• Lead database incident response and root cause analysis for major production issues, and implement permanent corrective actions.
• Mentor and guide senior and junior engineers; foster a culture of knowledge sharing, continuous improvement, and technical excellence.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams including application development, cybersecurity, DevOps, and business intelligence to ensure data readiness and performance.
• Evaluate and introduce new technologies and methodologies to improve data reliability, performance, and cost-efficiency.
