Trade Middle Office Manager I
HSBC invites an ambitious and results‑oriented professional to lead our Trade Middle Office team. The role focuses on delivering best‑in‑class service to Global Trade Services (GTS) customers, enhancing market share, and ensuring compliance with all relevant policies.
Principal Accountabilities
- Lead and manage a team of GTS Service staff to deliver best‑in‑class service, emphasizing document checking, processing quality, high productivity, SLA adherence, and error reduction.
- Review current processes, focusing on high‑value / priority deals and assessing low‑value activities to enhance service differentiation and attract income‑generating customers.
- Ensure timely dissemination of relevant information within the team so that changes (e.g., sanction regulations) have minimal impact on clients.
- Identify and raise business opportunities when liaising with Relationship Managers and overseas colleagues, providing feedback to the business development team.
- Develop strong working relationships with business partners, the BD team, CM team and product teams.
- Manage operational risk by ensuring the team adheres to global policies and procedures for FCC / Sanctions and follows FIM / URDG / URR / URC guidelines strictly. Be accountable for the team’s compliance with local, regional, and global controls.
- Conduct frequent reviews to proactively identify processing gaps, provide oversight and new learnings, implementing and maintaining a risk‑free processing environment.
- Manage additional deliverables such as monthly balancing activities, daily / weekly / monthly reviews of exception reports, and handling outstanding client payments.
- Ensure timely escalation of all incidents to the Head of Services.
- Handle audits and various reviews on behalf of the Export team.
Requirements
A recognised degree (preferred).Excellent, proven leadership skills managing a small to mid‑sized team.Above‑average working knowledge of technical trade functions and systems (e.g., HFE2, HFE4, HTS, WDM, Hub).Knowledge of AML and sanctions handling.Minimum of 7‑8 years of managerial experience.Technically sound and familiar with URDG / UCP600 / ISBP / URR / URC522.At least 3‑4 years’ exposure in trade services as a Manager or Assistant Manager.Knowledge in Receivables Finance, Supply Chain Solutions, etc. would be an added advantage.Qualification in CDCS / CITF / CSDG or similar trade qualifications would be a definite advantage.Due to the urgent hiring need, candidates with immediate right to work locally and no relocation needed will be prioritised.
