About the Role
The IT Project Manager is responsible for planning, initiating, and overseeing the execution of IT projects to ensure timely delivery within defined budgets. This role requires close coordination between internal teams and external vendors / consultants to achieve project goals. The IT Project Manager defines project objectives, manages quality assurance throughout the lifecycle, and acts as a key liaison between business stakeholders and technical teams to ensure alignment and successful outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
- Project Planning & Management : Develop comprehensive project plans aligning customer requirements with company goals. Coordinate teams through all phases — from development to implementation.
- Budget Management : Track and manage project budgets to ensure costs remain within approved limits.
- Team Coordination : Lead cross-functional teams, assign tasks, set deadlines, and monitor performance.
- Stakeholder Communication : Provide regular updates on project progress, risks, and issues.
- Risk Management : Identify potential risks and develop mitigation strategies to ensure project success.
- Vendor Management : Oversee relationships with external vendors and service providers, including contract negotiations and performance monitoring.
- Quality Assurance : Ensure all deliverables meet scope, time, budget, and quality expectations.
- Documentation : Maintain detailed project documentation — project plans, reports, and evaluations.
- Additional Duties : Perform other related responsibilities as assigned.
Required Skills & Abilities
Project Management : Strong knowledge of Agile, Scrum, and Waterfall methodologies; proficiency with MS Project and JIRA.Technical Proficiency : Solid technical background with understanding and / or hands‑on experience in software development and web technologies.Leadership : Proven ability to lead and manage cross‑functional teams effectively.Communication : Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey complex technical information to non‑technical stakeholders.Problem‑Solving : Strong analytical and problem‑solving capabilities with keen attention to detail.Time Management : Ability to manage multiple projects and prioritize tasks efficiently.Education & Experience
Education : Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred).Experience : Minimum 5 years of IT project management experience with a proven record of delivering complex projects — ideally within the banking domain.Experience managing projects in software development environments is highly desirable.Exposure to core banking, loan / financing origination, credit / debit card systems, payment systems (e.g., SWIFT / RENTAS), and / or collection / recovery systems in Malaysia is preferred.Certifications : PMP, PRINCE2, Certified ScrumMaster (CSM), or equivalent certifications preferred.Competencies : Familiarity with tools such as Microsoft Project, Microsoft Teams, and SharePoint.Seniority level
