This is a Database Administrator (DBA) position with requirements to ensure the BAU databases are in good health. The DBA will also be involved in project setup and advise customers / users on resource requirements. The job will require working at odd hours and / or public holidays when required. This role reports to the DBA Lead.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform health check on the databases and ensure databases are in good health status.
- Perform health check on the database Replication and ensure databases at DR site are synchronized.
- Perform health check on the database Backup and ensure databases backup is in place.
- Perform health check on the DB space usage and ensure databases have enough space to grow.
- Attend DB security patching on scheduled downtime.
- Attend data patching / program patching on scheduled downtime.
- Provide 24
- 7 support (on rotation basis, including public holiday or when required).
- Handle incidents on databases.
- Ensure no outstanding tickets assigned to the DBA team.
- Involved in the Disaster Recovery (DR) Test.
- Perform DB backup and restore when required.
- Setup, configure and maintain new databases for user testing or new projects.
- Attend audit findings on databases.
- Provide health check reports and status updates as required.
Managerial Responsibilities
Provide technical advice and guidance to junior DBAs and / or new joiners.Manage and deliver tasks assigned.Organizational Responsibilities
Meet business needs and provide solutions regarding database services.Lead / participate in meetings with internal / external users for BAU or project related activities.Work at odd hours, long hours or public holidays as required and assigned.Jobholder Requirements
Minimum of 2 years of production database management experience in any 2 of the following databases (MSSQL, ORACLE, DB2, MYSQL, MongoDB).Experience in the following area(s) will be a plus point :Work experience within the Financial Industry.
Database migration between versions, platforms and different database types.Troubleshooting and tuning databases.What’s next?
