Job description

Role Overview

The Head of HR is responsible for leading HR strategy and operations across several companies within the Group. This role works closely with Senior Management to ensure consistent HR practices, strengthen talent retention and advancement and build a high-performance culture that supports sustainable business growth.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and implement HR strategies aligned with group-wide objectives in collaboration with Senior Management.
  • Lead workforce planning, organisational development and succession planning.
  • Drive employee engagement and culture-building initiatives to strengthen retention.
  • Oversee recruitment for senior and critical roles across the Group.
  • Implement initiatives to retain key employees and reduce turnover.
  • Champion leadership development, training and career advancement frameworks.
  • Ensure fair and competitive salary structures, benefits, and rewards.
  • Oversee payroll governance and compliance in collaboration with Finance.
  • Act as an advisor to management and employees on HR-related matters.
  • Ensure compliance with Malaysian labour laws, statutory requirements, and company policies.
  • Manage grievance handling, disciplinary cases, and employee relations effectively.
  • Lead performance management processes to align KPIs with business goals.
  • Foster a collaborative, inclusive, and values-driven work culture.
  • Oversee HR systems, records, and statutory reporting.
  • Use HR data and analytics to provide workforce insights and support decision-making.
  • Manage HR budgets effectively.
  • Oversee general administrative functions to ensure smooth day-to-day office operations.
  • Support alignment between HR and administrative processes (e.g., office policies, staff services and record management).

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in HR, Business Administration, or related field (HR certification an advantage).
  • Minimum 10 years of HR experience, with at least 3 years in a senior management role.
  • Strong knowledge of Malaysian labour law and HR best practices.
  • Proven success in talent retention, succession planning and career development.
  • Excellent leadership, communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Experience in multi-location offices set up is an advantage.
  • Background in hospitality and / or non-profit industries preferred.
