Who You Are
- Develop and implement new SMT processes to support new product introductions.
- Train Associate Engineers and prepare clear, comprehensive operational instructions for SMT processes.
- Take full ownership of SMT process performance, including quality, yield, defect containment, process capability and stability, cost efficiency, CpK, and other key performance indicators (KPIs) for new projects.
Position Summary
Initiate and lead process activities in New Product Introduction (NPI) and sustaining engineering for SMT processes.Develop and optimize SMT processes to ensure high-quality, cost-effective, and reliable LED manufacturing.Perform process window studies using standard tools such as Design of Experiments (DoE).Conduct material and equipment assessments to optimize SMT process cost and quality.Drive process development and optimization to improve SMT process quality and reliability.Establish optimum SMT process parameters and provide training and support to operations teams.Develop specifications for SMT equipment and materials, including reject and acceptance criteria.Lead SMT process transfer, tool qualification, and ramp-up projects.Drive Continuous Improvement Projects (CIP) focused on cost reduction, capacity expansion, yield enhancement, and performance improvement.Create and maintain documentation, certifications, and procedures in compliance with safety and quality standards.Perform risk assessments and implement controls to maintain SMT process stability.Own and maintain PFMEA, control plans, and work instructions for SMT processes.What You Will Do
Support engineering tasks and initiatives as assigned by the Manager, contributing to both development and improvement projects.Define process specifications and criteria for technology development, while ensuring process quality and stability for existing products.Assess and validate process setups involving new materials or equipment to ensure they are robust, efficient, and suitable for high-volume production.What You Will Bring (Required Qualifications)
Hands‑on experience with SMT machines such as DEK Printer, KohYoung SPI, Yamaha / Fuji Pick‑and‑Place, Heller / BTU Reflow, AOI, and X‑ray systems.Skilled in using statistical analysis tools including JMP, SPC, and problem‑solving methods like 8D, FMEA, and DMAIC.Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills with a collaborative mindset.Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Project.Self‑motivated and able to work independently with minimal supervision.Comfortable working in a fast‑paced manufacturing environment.Detail‑oriented with good communication and teamwork skills.Bachelor's degree.Field of Study
Mechanical, Electronic, Electrical Engineering, Materials Science, or related Engineering fieldYears of Experience (Minimum)
5 – 7 yearsPreferred Qualifications
Solid experience in SMT manufacturing processes and operations.Knowledge of IPC standards and SMT‑related quality control practices.Proficient in statistical analysis and process improvement tools such as Design of Experiments (DOE), Statistical Process Control (SPC), and Six Sigma.Familiarity with statistical software such as JMP for data analysis and process optimization.Hands‑on experience with SMT equipment and strong troubleshooting skills.Lumileds is an Equal Employment Opportunity Employer
