This is a fixed-term contract employment for 6 months. If the contract is successfully completed and both sides are satisfied, there have high chances to be converted as permanent employees.
The Tooling Technician is responsible for the preparation, maintenance, calibration, and management of tooling used in ceramic machining operations. This role ensures that tools and fixtures are in optimal condition to support precision machining processes, improve production efficiency, and maintain high-quality standards in ceramic component manufacturing.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare, set up, and issue tooling required for ceramic machining operations (CNC, grinding, drilling, lapping, etc.).
- Maintain and monitor tooling inventory, ensuring availability and proper storage.
- Inspect, sharpen, repair, and replace worn or damaged tooling to sustain machining accuracy.
- Collaborate with machinists, engineers, and supervisors to determine tooling requirements for new jobs.
- Assist in the design and modification of jigs, fixtures, and special tooling for ceramic parts.
- Perform preventive maintenance and calibration on tooling and fixtures.
- Support process improvement initiatives by evaluating tooling performance and recommending enhancements.
- Maintain documentation of tooling usage, history, and maintenance records.
- Ensure adherence to safety protocols and proper handling of ceramic machining tools.
- Troubleshoot tooling issues that may affect machining quality or efficiency.
Qualifications
Diploma / Certificate in Mechanical Engineering, Tool & Die, Precision Machining, or related field.Minimum 2–3 years' experience in tooling or machining (experience in ceramic machining is an added advantage).Strong knowledge of CNC machines, cutting tools, grinding tools, and machining processes.Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, GD&T, and process specifications.Skilled in the use of precision measuring instruments (micrometers, calipers, gauges).Basic CAD / CAM knowledge is an advantage.Good problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.Attention to detail with strong organizational and documentation abilities.Technical aptitude in tooling and machining practices
