Role : Manager - Data Engineer

Location : Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia

Responsibilities

  • Lead and contribute as a problem solver and Subject Matter Expert to solve complex business issues from strategy to execution.
  • Demonstrate foundational knowledge of technology concepts and applications and how they can be applied to real-world problems; stay updated with evolving technological trends.
  • Leverage strong analytical and problem-solving skills to address complex business challenges, validate and interpret data, and provide insightful recommendations.
  • Build and maintain strong, trusted client relationships and act as a trusted advisor; ensure engagements align with client objectives and outcomes.
  • Collaborate effectively within diverse teams and with external stakeholders; manage resources and maintain cohesive team dynamics.
  • Communicate clearly and persuasively, both verbally and in writing; articulate ideas and insights to clients and team members.
  • Uphold high standards of professionalism and integrity; commit to ethical practices and transparency.
  • Embrace continuous learning and adaptability; stay current with industry trends and lead practices; handle ambiguity and changing client needs.

About you / Qualifications

We recognise that our ideal candidate may come from a diverse range of backgrounds and experiences. Possessing a majority of the qualifications below is desired, but not mandatory.

  • Bachelor's or master's degree in disciplines with an analytical and quantitative component. Preferred fields include Accounting, Actuarial Science, Business Analytics, Computer Science, Economics, Engineering, Finance, Information Systems, Mathematics, Statistics, or Software Engineering.
  • Minimum 3 – 5 years of experience in the data industry.
  • Passion for technology with experience in one or more of the following areas :
  • Data : Data structures, database systems, data processing; data quality tools, data integration, ETL tools, API management; big data and cloud technologies; data governance, data security, data quality and architecture.
  • Analytics : Analytical methods, data storytelling / visualization (PowerBI, Tableau, QlikView), BI tools, SQL / NoSQL / R / Python / SAS; experience with Large Language Models; data analytics projects and digital transformation.
  • Technologies : Enterprise apps, solution architecture (cloud, development, integration); emerging technologies (GenAI, Blockchain).
  • Relevant data engineering / data science certifications (e.g., AWS / Azure / GCP certifications).
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and project management capabilities; ability to translate business requirements into technical solutions.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills; client service mindset.
