Job description

Eco-Business is looking for a passionate and motivated editor to join our regional team. This role requires solid writing, journalism and content curation experience across all multimedia platforms and formats, and impeccable English writing and speaking skills. Additional Asian languages are welcome.

In addition to working with the region-wide editorial team, you will help to lead EB Studio, which is dedicated to creating engaging, credible content and thought leadership events in collaboration with our brand partners throughout the region. You will work with a wide range of partners from public, private and multilateral organisations across the world.

You must have an excellent work ethic, a passion for sustainable development topics, work to tight deadlines, be a team player, and possess a keen interest in sustainable development and how it relates to the business world. Design and production skills will be considered favourably.

The role

Reporting to the Leadership Team, you will be responsible for assisting to lead the editorial and EB studio units and in writing, producing and managing our wide range of branded content, thought leadership events and platforms.

Our ideal candidate has exceptional verbal and written communication skills, is meticulous and pays the highest attention to detail. You should enjoy networking, meeting and building relationships with a wide range of stakeholders, and have an excellent sense of what constitutes great, impactful content.

You will be given major responsibility for all our branded content projects and strategic events across the region. Excellent and sensitive communication and negotiation skills will be key to balancing our editorial as well as our partners' objectives.

Responsibilities :

  • Developing and pitching ideas and delivering a wide range of editorial and EB Studio branded content products, thought leadership programmes and programme development.
  • Lead branded content projects, event development and programming, contribute ideas and join brainstorms.
  • Writing and producing content on relevant sustainable development issues and trends in the Asia Pacific region.
  • Work with the wider editorial team on editorial projects across all of Eco-Business platforms including the written word, podcasts, videos, photography, features, long form special reports, among other formats
  • Social media management, including publishing all EB Studio content on social media, comments moderation,
  • LinkedIn group management, and reader engagement via comments and tweets.
  • Work in collaboration with the partnerships team to engage brand partners.
  • Support the development of some select strategic proposals and pitches.
  • Support the Director of Partnerships to execute branded content projects, events and business strategy.
  • Build and maintain key relationships across the business (including commercial and editorial).
  • Generate insights from key metrics across our branded content platforms to guide effective decision making and programme development.
  • Design and publish content across all of Eco-Business's platforms and networks.
  • Respond to comments and queries from our partners and community in a timely manner.
  • Monitor and report on feedback, online reviews and metrics.
  • Coordinate with our partnerships and editorial teams to ensure brand consistency.

To be considered for this position, you must possess the following :

  • A keen interest in sustainability and development issues.
  • A university degree in English, Literature, Communication Studies, or any other relevant field.
  • Experience in the Asia Pacific region
  • At least three to five years of journalism experience in the newsroom of an established media outlet, or a freelancer with a portfolio of work published in reputable media outlets.
  • A proven track record of identifying and writing creative and original news stories, and successful follow-up to promote them amongst readers and social media users.
  • The ability to multi-task and cope with tight newsroom deadlines.
  • Strategic thinking, excellent project management and organisational skills
  • A keen eye for detail and accuracy, and strong written and spoken English language skills.
  • A proactive attitude and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, and the willingness to contribute to the success of a growing and dynamic organisation.
  • Familiarity with photography and videography gear and production, design and web tools such as Adobe Creative Suite, HTML and CSS, as well as social media and project management tools will be considered favourably
  • A clear understanding of the Eco-Business brand and editorial principles.
  • Only those with the required experience will be shortlisted for interviews. All shortlisted candidates will be required to take a writing and / or video test.

    This full time role is based in Malaysia, but part-time and contract basis can be considered from all geographies in the Asian time zone if you are found to be relevant.
