Overview

A Data Analyst in the Financial Crime Surveillance Operations (FCSO) Performance and Metrics Management function interprets data and turns it into information that enables or improves a business process, affecting business decisions within FCSO. The FCSO Data Analyst gathers information from various sources and interprets patterns and trends to make it digestible for others, with reporting in the FCSO Scorecard. Strong analytical skills and curiosity about data are essential.

Responsibilities

  • Acquire a detailed understanding of tools for sourcing, visualising, transforming and analysing data required to manage FCSO Performance metrics and Scorecard
  • Define clear, concise and detailed business requirements for FCSO Data that document the data elements and formats, outline transformation expectations and list critical data elements for downstream processes
  • Create and maintain documentation articulating the data extraction, transformation and loading process in FCSO for shareability and clarity
  • Collaborate with downstream FCSO business process owners to improve, refine and expand datasets, help stakeholders interpret the data, provide training where required, and derive meaningful BI / MI
  • Conduct detailed analysis of upstream changes impacting FCSO data (e.g., new products) to ensure requirements stay up to date and define new ones as necessary
  • Identify data gaps or areas of overlap to increase value, by eliminating redundant processes or expanding data models
  • Produce accurate dashboards and reports detailing data health, content and insights, making them actionable for stakeholders and meaningful for management decision making
  • Participate in Agile ceremonies as a functional data expert and work with a cross-functional agile team
  • Innovate in how data is presented to senior management to enable data-driven decisions

Work with downstream FCSO business process owners to improve, refine and expand datasets, help them understand the data, provide training where required, and derive meaningful BI / MI

People & Talent

Learn all FCSO processes, systems and data regularly and apply the knowledge in Data and MI ETL (Extraction, Transformation and Loading) and Reports development

Risk Management

Learn the FCSO risk management framework, raise issues in M7 and close them in a timely manner

Governance

Follow TTO and FCSO change governance processes, document changes and communicate stakeholders for UVT (Users Verification Testing)

Regulatory & Business Conduct

Display exemplary conduct and live by the Group’s Values and Code of Conduct. Take personal responsibility for embedding high standards of ethics, including regulatory and business conduct, across Standard Chartered Bank. Effectively identify, escalate, mitigate and resolve risk, conduct and compliance matters.

Key stakeholders

They will work closely with :

  • FCSO Management Team – priorities, requirements, objectives and strategy
  • FCSO Data Squads – managing MI transformation and working with the FCSO Performance and Metrics Management team
  • FCSO Data Quality Analysts – define data quality control requirements and oversee them to ensure constant system health
  • Upstream data teams – provide the data that the analyst sources
  • Downstream Process Owners – depend on the data to perform their business function
  • Data Analysts spend much of their time working with stakeholders to define data requirements, data transformation logic and supporting the delivery of these requirements from start to finish. They are experts in profiling data and have a working understanding of the business process or product that generated it. They are the primary liaison between upstream and downstream teams.

    Other Responsibilities

    Embed Here for good and Group’s brand and values in India / OPS FCSO / Data and Reporting; perform other responsibilities assigned under Group, Country, Business or Functional policies and procedures; multiple functions (double hats).

    Skills and Experience

  • Data Analysis tools such as Dataiku, ETL
  • FCC / FCSO Knowledge / past work experience
  • Microsoft Office : PPT, Excel, Macros
  • Agile tools : Confluence, ADO
  • SQL, Python, PySpark
  • Qualifications

  • Education : Graduate / Master’s degree and 4-6 years of Banking Industry experience in data analysis using Dataiku / SQL / PySpark
  • Certifications : Dataiku (preferable), Python, SQL, PySpark. Practical knowledge of data in various forms (data warehouses / SQL, unstructured data environments / PIG, HIVE, Impala), Think Cell and pivot tables in Excel
  • Languages : English
