About the Role

Hybrid DevOps Automation Engineer, responsibilities split evenly (50 / 50) between traditional System Administration and automation engineering.
Primary goal to improve operational efficiency, enhance security posture, and increase scalability through automation tools like Chef, Ansible, and Terraform.
Key responsibilities : system hardening, user lifecycle management, and designing automation for repetitive sysadmin and security tasks.
Build reusable automation playbooks and modules for provisioning, configuration management, and compliance enforcement.
Strong ownership during incidents, proactive attitude to identify root causes and collaborate on permanent fixes.

About the Team

IT Infrastructure team based in Kuala Lumpur.

Collaboration with Security, DevOps, and Application teams.

Proactive attitude and strong sense of ownership, especially when managing incidents and performing root cause analysis.

Effective communication with diverse stakeholders to ensure no gaps in execution and drive initiatives to completion.

Document findings from incidents and contribute to knowledge bases to prevent future issues.

Qualifications

Experienced in any public cloud platform.

Strong scripting skills in Bash, Python, or PowerShell.

Solid understanding of security best practices and system hardening techniques.

Experience with CI / CD pipelines and version control using Git.

Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.

Proven ability to take ownership and perform in-depth root cause analysis.

Preferred : Expertise in at least one major automation tool (Chef, TEM, or Ansible) and familiarity with compliance frameworks like CIS, NIST, or ISO 27001.
