Overview
We are seeking a highly motivated Thermal Solution Engineer to join our engineering team focused on advanced compute tray and rack system designs. In this role, you will be responsible for analyzing, modeling, and optimizing the thermal performance of compute systems to ensure efficient heat dissipation and reliable operation under high-performance workloads.
Responsibilities
- Conduct CFD simulations to evaluate airflow, heat transfer, and overall thermal performance of compute trays and rack systems.
- Analyze thermal behavior at both component and system levels to identify hot spots and airflow inefficiencies.
- Propose design optimizations to improve cooling efficiency and system reliability.
- Work closely with system, mechanical, and firmware engineers to define thermal design requirements and performance thresholds.
- Recommend thermal solutions including heatsinks, fan configurations, liquid cooling, or hybrid systems.
- Ensure thermal designs meet targets for reliability, energy efficiency, and cost-effectiveness.
- Support lab testing and validation of thermal models using temperature sensors, airflow measurements, and other instrumentation.
- Correlate simulation results with physical measurements to fine-tune models and improve accuracy.
- Deliver detailed test reports and feedback to support New Product Introduction (NPI) and ongoing design improvements.
- Develop and maintain technical documentation, including simulation models, reports, and thermal design guidelines.
- Ensure compliance with industry standards (e.g., ASHRAE, data center cooling best practices).
Qualifications
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Thermal / Fluids Engineering, or a related field.Proven experience in thermal simulation, cooling system design, or electronics thermal management, preferably within server, data center, or high-density compute environments.Proficient in CFD software such as ANSYS Icepak, FloTHERM, COMSOL, or equivalent.Strong understanding of heat transfer, fluid dynamics, and electronics cooling techniques.Practical experience with airflow optimization, heatsink and fan selection, and liquid cooling solutions.Ability to correlate simulation data with real-world test results to improve model accuracy.Familiarity with relevant standards and guidelines for thermal performance in servers and data centers.Strong analytical, problem-solving, and attention-to-detail skills.Effective communication skills, with the ability to present technical insights to cross-functional teams.About Our Client
