Overview

MetLife Kuala Lumpur, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. The Modeling & Actuarial Solutions (MAS) central actuarial modeling, testing and production team in MetLife supports all modeling needs in the Asia region, working with the MAS Hong Kong team. The model covers important financial calculations and projections including VNB, US GAAP / LDTI, EC reporting, etc.

Role and Responsibilities

  • Be an IT expert to provide advice and support to the actuarial modelling team in implementing and maintaining MetLife Asia’s models.
  • Possess knowledge in both actuarial modelling and the latest advanced technology. Carry out coding to meet internal and external requirements and / or assist in model migration for countries designated to the role.
  • Look after IT related issues that arise during model development and / or production. Understand the causes of the issues and suggest solutions.
  • Build and maintain the actuarial models in Python or other suitable programming languages.
  • Provide IT advice and support to other team members or the local country counterparts.
  • Understand cutting-edge technology development and trends.
  • Resolve difficult technical IT issues encountered in the model release process or production.
  • Improve the modeling process and efficiency by utilizing the latest technology.
  • Migrate the existing legacy actuarial models to the latest and advanced platform (e.g. Python).
  • Communicate regularly with local country counterparts on model requirements and issues encountered.

Qualifications

  • At least 5 years of practical IT experience working in an actuarial department.
  • In-depth knowledge and experience in programming skills (e.g. Python, C++), databases, parallel computing and / or Azure.
  • Knowledge of latest technology development and trends such as AI, machine learning, etc.
  • Experience of actuarial modelling, e.g. Prophet, is a plus.
