The Senior Quality Engineer understands and complies with all the regulations governing the quality systems. The role leads quality initiatives across production operations, driving continuous improvement, root cause analysis, and risk management. The engineer collaborates cross-functionally with production and supply chain teams to implement process controls, corrective actions, and quality system improvements. They provide technical leadership, mentor junior engineers, and ensure compliance with applicable quality standards.
Job Description
Develop and maintain PPAP documentation (Process Flow, Control Plan, PFMEA, MSA, SPC, Dimensional Reports) for new product introduction or process changes.
Lead investigations on product or process non-conformities and apply appropriate problem-solving techniques (Eg. 5 Why, Fishbone Diagram, FMEA, 8D) to process non-conformities and customer complaints.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to address process defects and implement improvements.
Implement and verify the effectiveness of corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).
Drive initiatives to reduce defects, improve yield, and enhance customer satisfaction. Champion continuous improvement and innovation in manufacturing quality through Lean, Six Sigma, or Kaizen methodologies within the department right from vendor selection / approval through to customer awareness / satisfaction.
Deals with suppliers and customers should the need arise.
Prepare and present quality reports and KPI updates to management.
Coordinate and prepare documentation for customer audits, represent the company during audits, address customer inquiries, and lead post-audit corrective actions to ensure compliance and continuous improvement.
Act as a quality leader in ISO 9001, and other quality standards adopt by company; guide best practices and ensure adherence to internal and external quality standards, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
Ensure traceability and document control compliance.
Supervise and mentor QA inspectors or engineers.
Conduct training on quality standards, inspection methods, and problem-solving tools.
Foster a culture of quality and continuous improvement within the organization.
Job Requirements
Minimum Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related engineering field.
Minimum 5 years of similar working experience with at least 2 years as a senior in operations quality assurance in a mechanical manufacturing environment.
Strong understanding of quality operations fundamentals, including product risk assessment and data analysis to identify root causes and drive solutions.
Strong communication skill, able to drive findings clearly and effectively across departments.
Strong understanding and familiar with quality measurement tools eg CMM.
Efficient writing skills in producing quality standards manuals and instructions.
