Job Summary : The Finance / Accounts Manager plays a key role in overseeing and managing the financial operations of the retail / supermarket business. This includes financial planning, budgeting, reporting, inventory cost control, and ensuring compliance with financial regulations and internal policies. The role also requires strong collaboration with operations, merchandising, and senior leadership to drive financial performance.
Key Responsibilities
- Financial Planning & Analysis : Prepare annual budgets, periodic forecasts, and financial projections for retail branches. Perform variance analysis on sales, costs, and operational expenses. Support management in business decisions with financial insight and reporting.
- Financial Reporting : Oversee timely preparation of monthly, quarterly, and year-end financial statements. Monitor revenue, gross margins, and net profit across branches and departments. Ensure accurate and complete ledger maintenance and reconciliation.
- Accounting Operations : Manage day-to-day accounting functions including AR / AP, cash flow, GL, and petty cash. Ensure accurate and timely processing of supplier invoices, staff claims, and payments. Maintain proper documentation and filing for audit and regulatory purposes.
- Cost & Inventory Control : Work closely with the operations and purchasing teams to monitor inventory levels, COGS, shrinkage, and stock variances. Perform stock reconciliation and assist in stocktaking processes. Analyze promotional and discount impact on profitability.
- Tax & Compliance : Ensure compliance with SST, income tax, and all statutory regulations. Coordinate with external auditors, tax consultants, and company secretary. Implement internal control processes to safeguard company assets.
- Team Leadership : Supervise and guide the finance / accounts team. Review performance, provide coaching and ensure continual improvement in processes. Establish and maintain SOPs and accounting policies in line with group standards.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related discipline.Professional certification such as ACCA, CPA, or CIMA is an added advantage.At least 5–8 years of relevant working experience, preferably in the retail or supermarket industry.Familiarity with retail POS systems, accounting software, and inventory management tools.Strong leadership, analytical, and communication skills.Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple priorities across branches.Seniority level
