The Associate Academic Head supports the Academic Head and Principals in ensuring the successful planning, implementation, and continuous improvement of academic programs across all levels. The role involves driving curriculum excellence, supervising teaching standards, mentoring educators, and ensuring alignment with the IGCSE framework and school policies.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in the planning and implementation of the IGCSE curriculum and other learning pathways offered by the school.
- Monitor curriculum delivery to ensure alignment with Cambridge International standards and Regent's academic vision.
- Work with subject heads to ensure schemes of work, lesson plans, and assessments are well-designed and effectively delivered.
- Coordinate subject audits, academic benchmarking, and quality control reviews
Teacher Support, Coaching & Development
Mentor and coach teachers through lesson observations, walkthroughs, and constructive feedback.Identify training needs and support the planning of Continuous Professional Development (CPD) sessions.Promote evidence-based teaching strategies, differentiation, and innovation in pedagogy.Academic Performance & Student Progress
Analyse student performance data and collaborate with staff to implement improvement strategies.Monitor internal assessment cycles, IGCSE exam readiness, and academic intervention programs.Support data-driven decision-making to enhance teaching outcomes.Quality Assurance & Compliance
Support academic compliance with Cambridge International guidelines and Malaysian Private Education regulations.Lead internal academic reviews and contribute to inspection preparations (e.g., MOE or accreditation bodies).Maintain accurate academic records, reports, and documentation.Stakeholder Engagement
Collaborate with parents on academic matters, student progress, and academic interventions.Represent the academic team in meetings, events, and communication with external stakeholders when delegated.Support the transition and orientation programs for new staff and students.Leadership and Deputization
Deputise for the Academic Head or Principals when required.Provide leadership during academic planning meetings, school-wide events, andcross-campus academic collaborations.Foster a collaborative and supportive environment for academic excellenceJob Specifications
Qualification :
Bachelor’s Degree in Education or related field; a Master’s Degree is an added advantage.
Skills & Knowledge Required :
Minimum 5–7 years of teaching experience, with at least 2–3 years in academic leadership or coordination roles.Strong understanding of the Cambridge IGCSE curriculum and assessment standards.Proven record of raising academic standards and driving school improvement initiatives.Excellent leadership, mentoring, and interpersonal skills.Strong organisational and time-management capabilities.Data-literate with experience in student tracking and intervention.Passionate about high-quality education and continuous improvement.Ability to manage multiple tasks and support change management effectively.Seniority level
