Summary :
The Site Safety Supervisor is responsible for ensuring a safe work environment at construction or project sites by implementing and enforcing safety policies, conducting inspections, training staff on safety protocols, and responding to emergencies. This role is critical in minimizing workplace accidents, ensuring compliance with safety regulations, and promoting a culture of continuous safety improvement. The Site Safety Supervisor works closely with project managers, site supervisors, and workers to assess risks, implement controls, and maintain a hazard-free workplace.
Key Responsibilities :
Site Inspections and Hazard Identification :
- Conduct regular site inspections to identify potential hazards, unsafe practices, and non-compliance with safety regulations.
- Document findings, prepare inspection reports, and communicate results to site management.
- Monitor ongoing construction activities for compliance with safety standards.
- Verify the proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and ensure all safety measures are in place.
Safety Program Development :
Develop, implement, and maintain comprehensive site-specific safety programs and procedures.Establish and enforce safe work practices and standard operating procedures (SOPs) based on risk assessments.Create emergency preparedness and response plans, including evacuation routes and muster points.Ensure effective communication of safety protocols to all site personnel.Training and Capacity Building :
Conduct safety induction programs for new workers and ongoing training for existing staff.Organize regular toolbox talks, safety drills, and refresher courses to maintain high awareness levels.Ensure workers are trained in the safe use of tools, machinery, and hazardous substances.Evaluate the effectiveness of training programs through assessments and feedback.Incident Investigation and Reporting :
Investigate accidents, incidents, and near-misses to identify root causes and implement corrective actions.Maintain accurate records of incidents, including photos, witness statements, and corrective action plans.Prepare detailed incident reports for management and regulatory authorities.Track and analyze safety data to identify trends and prevent future occurrences.Regulatory Compliance and Auditing :
Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal safety regulations, including OSHA, DOSH, and NIOSH standards.Coordinate with external safety, inspectors, and regulatory bodies as required.Prepare for and participate in external safety audits and inspections.Safety Equipment and Resource Management :
Oversee the procurement, maintenance, and inspection of safety equipment, including PPE, fire extinguishers, and first aid kits.Ensure proper storage and labeling of hazardous materials.Conduct regular checks on safety signage, barricades, and emergency lighting.Leadership and Safety Culture Promotion :
Promote a culture of safety awareness and continuous improvement among all site workers.Act as a safety advocate, encouraging proactive hazard reporting and open communication.Provide leadership and guidance to site supervisors.Required Qualifications :
Occupational Safety and Health Certificate (yellow card)Minimum 2-3 years of experience in a safety role, preferably in construction or industrial projects.Certified Safety and Health Officer (SHO) by DOSH (preferred).In-depth knowledge of OSHA, NIOSH, and other relevant safety regulations.Valid driving license (if required to travel between sites).Job Type : Contract
