Summary of the job

This role is responsible to assist in overseeing and inspecting site's respective discipline activities (Mechanical, Electrical & Plumbing-MEP) to ensure compliance with up to date design specifications, safety standards, and quality requirements. This role involves conducting regular site inspections, monitoring progress, maintaining detailed records, coordinating with contractors and stakeholders, and ensuring adherence to relevant regulations and project standards.

Site Inspection and Monitoring :

  • Accountable to conduct regular site inspections to ensure site's respective discipline work complies with the approved plans and specifications.
  • Accountable to conduct thorough inspections of all components. Ensure all elements are built according to design specifications, practical & technical specifications and are free from hazards, defects or damage.
  • Consistently monitor work progress and quality to ensure it adheres to contractual requirements and standards.
  • Assist to identify and report any discrepancies or issues to the relevant parties.

Quality Control :

  • Verify construction materials and workmanship & ensure the quality meet the up-to-date required standards and specifications.
  • Assess the condition of materials used in construction, to ensure they are not deteriorated and are performing as expected
  • Ensure that all construction activities comply with up to-date safety regulations and quality assurance procedures.
  • Documentation and Reporting :
  • Accountable in maintain accurate records of work performed, including daily site reports, inspection logs, and test results.
  • Assist to prepare and submit reports on the progress of site works, highlighting any issues or delays.
  • Coordination and Communication :

  • Act as a liaison between the contractor, project manager, and other stakeholders to facilitate smooth project execution.
  • Collaborate with respective discipline Engineers to address identified issues and ensure that corrective measures are effectively designed and implemented.
  • Attend project meetings and provide updates on respective discipline work.
  • Compliance and Safety :
  • Ensure all construction activities are in compliance with up-to-date relevant codes, standards, and regulations.
  • Monitor and enforce safety procedures on-site to prevent accidents and ensure a safe working environment.
  • Identify and analyze any potential safety risks or issues resulting from respective discipline deficiencies or non- compliance with standards and recommend corrective actions.
  • Defect Identification and Resolution :

  • Identify and document defects or non-conformities in construction work.
  • Work with contractors to resolve issues and ensure that corrective actions are implemented.
  • Inspection of Works :
  • Conduct inspections of completed work before it is covered up or concealed.
  • Ensure that all works are completed in accordance with design requirements and project specifications.
  • Perform follow-up inspections to confirm that corrective actions or repairs have been completed properly and that structural integrity has been restored
  • Any other duties as assigned by Management.
  • Qualification

    Education & Qualification

  • Degree in Mechanical & Electrical Engineering or Structural Engineering & other discipline : Mandatory for the Inspector of Works (IOW) to be registered with the Board of Engineers as a qualified Inspector of Works.
  • Minimum 2 to 5 years of work experience. This includes substantial experience in site supervision, quality control, coordination of civil and structural projects, demonstrating extensive knowledge and experience in overseeing large-scale or complex projects.
  • Technical Skills & Professional Knowledge

  • The Inspector of Works must possess strong technical skills in site inspection, quality control, and understanding construction materials and methods. Proficiency in reading and interpreting architectural and structural drawings, using construction software, and ensuring adherence to health and safety regulations is crucial. Additionally, they need a solid grasp of building codes, construction contracts, and project management principles. Knowledge of modern construction techniques and legal standards further supports their role in maintaining high-quality standards and ensuring compliance throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Competencies

  • Effective communication and coordination skills are essential for liaising with contractors and stakeholders. Additionally, they need a solid understanding of building codes, construction methods, and regulatory requirements to ensure compliance and resolve issues efficiently.

    Pay : RM5, RM6,500.00 per month
