Assistant Manager, Underwriting Commercial Lines – Fire & Misc classes

  • Support the Section Head and manage Fire & Miscellaneous classes.
  • Provide technical support to business units / branches.
  • Manage underwriting performance for Fire & Miscellaneous classes

The key responsibilities will include but are not limited to :

  • Assist the Section Head to understand, develop & recommend approach to increase market share on profit segment for Fire & Miscellaneous class.
  • Assist the Section Head to explore different product, pricing and underwriting options to enable optimal portfolio balance between growth and profit and alignment to company strategies.
  • Ensure team alignment and clear development of organizational opportunities and manage threats and risks.
  • Enhance capabilities / work skills of Underwriter from technical skill to marketing skill.
  • Liaise with Treaty Reinsurers on risks exceeding the company authority for approval and acceptance.
  • Network with Reinsurance Market for new opportunities and support.
  • Network with Brokers and Agents to keep abreast of market movements and demands.
  • Design and develop new Products (when require) and lead projects related to Fire & Miscellaneous portfolio.
  • Review Underwriting rules and guidelines for Fire & Miscellaneous portfolio.
  • Underwriting & Analyzing risk base on Company Guideline.
  • Assist the Section Head in various types of Audits (internal & external) and reporting.
  • Job Specification :

  • Degree holder in insurance or any other relevant discipline.
  • Preferable with professional qualification in AMII / ACII.
  • Minimum 5 years working experience in Fire and Miscellaneous class of insurance.
  • Good technical, analytical and communication skills.
  • Strong drive to excel professionally, and to guide and motivate others.
  • Proficiency in spoken and written English.
  • Self-motivated, positive working attitude and capable of working independently.
  • Good organization and effective time management.
  • Computer literate and proficient in Microsoft Office.
