Duties and Responsibilities :
- Assists in the day-to-day operations of school laboratory.
- Setting up and taking down lab equipment as specified by teachers of the Science Department.
- Sets up a test apparatus and conducts test units following methods, procedures, standards, and sequences.
- Preparing chemical solutions, reagents during the lab procedures and ensure the lab is stocked with necessary supplies.
- Securing the lab by cleaning up any spills, washing the apparatus and keep reagents and equipment in designated place after practical sessions end.
- Assist teachers in conducting experiment, if and when instructed.
- Assist students in carrying out experiments, if and when necessary, under the guidance of the teacher.
- Works closely with students during lab sessions and guide them through experiments, answer questions students have concerning the process.
- Preparing of laboratory materials required by teachers.
- Maintaining general tidiness and organization of the laboratories at the end of each workday.
- Conduct maintenance and cleaning of laboratory equipment.
- Practice all health and safety procedures, policies, and practices.
- Practice excellent housekeeping.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area.
- Undertake basic administrative tasks such as ordering supplies, running errands, filing documents, and updating databases.
- Labeling, organizing and storing of chemicals and materials with awareness of safety issues, and inventoried periodically.
- Mixing of chemicals required for experiments.
- Storage and disposal of chemical, chemical compounds and waste materials in safe manner.
- Cleaning and storing of glassware.
- Ensure all laboratory equipment are in good working condition, clean, store in a safe manner and inventoried periodically.
- Inventory of science textbook / workbooks, videos, lab kits, science equipment.
- Purchasing of materials for experiments not available from the school’s supplier, as and when requested by teachers.
- Responsible for preparing the orders for chemicals in consultation with the teachers, and submitting orders to the Purchasing Department.
- Responsible for checking the orders upon delivery to ensure orders are complete and in good condition.
- Filling and organizing resource materials.
- Organizing of audiovisual materials and software.
- Always keep the best interests of the students in mind.
- Participates in curriculum and staff development opportunities as required.
- Assist with school activities and events as directed by the Principal.
