Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute sourcing strategies with clear short- and long-term goals.
  • Ensure accurate, competitive pricing across product categories.
  • Identify, assess, and onboard new suppliers globally.
  • Evaluate supplier capabilities, capacity, and risk (including factory assessments).
  • Lead contract and pricing negotiations; manage Requests for Proposal (RFPs).
  • Collaborate with internal teams to improve supplier quality, service, and cost.
  • Oversee product sample development from concept to production launch.
  • Track project timelines and ensure milestone adherence.
  • Flag and resolve production and testing issues with QC and Engineering teams.
  • Maintain strong relationships with existing suppliers and onboard new ones as needed.
  • Draft and finalize manufacturing contracts with legal input.
  • Coordinate contract negotiation meetings on key terms (e.g., pricing, lead time, capacity).
  • Monitor and manage supplier production capacity and monthly availability.
  • Track vendor performance (quality, pricing, delivery, responsiveness) and report results.
  • Partner with Supply Chain and Product Development teams to align vendor schedules with business needs.
  • Support problem resolution, factory expansions, relocations, and production disruptions.
  • Build and maintain strong, collaborative relationships with suppliers.

Travel requirements

  • This role will be required to frequently travel domestically and internationally regularly
  • Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Production, Supply Chain, Engineering, or related field; Proven work experience as a sourcing lead or procurement lead.
  • Minimum five years working experience in a related field
  • Engineering background or experience would be considered an asset
  • Interpersonal skills to develop and manage relationships
  • Strong project management, ability to successfully manage multiple tasks
  • Ability to work with and influence key business unit leaders
  • Negotiate effectively with strong written and oral presentation skills
  • Strong communication skills; English proficiency scores are a plus. Mandarin ability is a great plus.
  • Ability to think strategically with excellent quantitative skills
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work independently as well as in collaboration with cross-functional teams
  • Able to communicate with suppliers existing across multiple time zones, with an understanding that communication may be necessary after regular business hours.
  • Working hours are standard Malaysian hours, with occasional (weekly) EST meeting required
