Overview
The PCBA (Printed Circuit Board Assembly) Test Development Engineer is responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining test processes for PCBA manufacturing. This role involves designing test systems, creating test plans, analyzing test results, and ensuring product quality and reliability. The engineer collaborates with cross-functional teams, including design, manufacturing, and quality, to ensure efficient and accurate testing processes.
Key Responsibilities
- Test Development and Implementation : Design and develop test fixtures, test setups, and automated test systems for PCBAs. Create and validate test procedures to ensure compliance with product specifications and standards. Develop software / scripts for automated testing and data collection.
- Process Optimization : Identify and resolve test-related issues during development and production. Optimize test processes to improve efficiency, yield, and reliability. Collaborate with manufacturing teams to integrate testing into production workflows.
- Data Analysis and Reporting : Analyze test results to identify trends, failures, and areas for improvement. Generate detailed reports and communicate findings to relevant stakeholders. Recommend design or process changes based on test data and failure analysis.
- Equipment Management : Specify, procure, and maintain test equipment and tools. Perform calibration and preventive maintenance of test systems.
- Collaboration and Support : Work closely with design engineers to ensure testability of PCBAs. Support failure analysis and root cause investigation for defective units. Provide technical support for production teams regarding test processes and equipment.
- Compliance and Documentation : Ensure all test processes comply with relevant industry standards (e.g., IPC, ISO, etc.). Maintain comprehensive documentation for test plans, procedures, and results.
