We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented finance professional to join our dynamic Finance team. This role is pivotal in ensuring the delivery of timely, accurate and insightful management reports for Great Eastern Group of Companies. You will also play a key role in ensuring compliance with accounting standards, tax regulations and internal policies.

Responsibilities

  • Fixed Asset

To maintain and update fixed asset register of the entity.

  • To ensure accurate recording of asset transactions including additions, disposals, depreciation etc.
  • To monitor internal project progress to ensure timely capitalization of assets.
  • To perform reconciliations of fixed asset records with accounting systems and address any discrepancies.
  • Management Expenses / Accruals
  • To keep track of the monthly expenses against the approved budget.

  • To liaise with the respective Business Units on the release of accruals.
  • To prepare journal entries for monthly accrual, cost reclassifications and allocations.
  • To prepare commentary and address any abnormalities of the monthly expenses and / or accruals.
  • Leases
  • To maintain the lease register and ensure accurate updates for new, renewed or expired leases.

  • Coordinate with Business Units to validate lease changes
  • To prepare lease schedules in accordance with the IFRS 16 Leases.
  • To ensure the necessary accounting entries in relation to the leases are posted to the system on timely basis.
  • Intercompany Transaction
  • To compile and verify all the necessary documents for intercompany transactions

  • To allocate the intercompany transaction expense and issue billing together with Statement of Account to the respective company on monthly basis.
  • To ensure the intercompany transactions are accurately captured in the system on monthly basis.
  • To perform monthly reconciliations on the intercompany balances and to address discrepancies immediately.
  • To perform intercompany settlement on timely basis.
  • Property Account
  • To manage monthly closing for property management business.

  • To prepare the necessary journals for monthly expenses.
  • To monitor earnings yields of properties to ensure consistent performance.
  • Tax Compliance and Reporting
  • To prepare and file tax returns, including corporate, withholding and indirect tax returns within the statutory deadlines and ensure compliance with relevant laws and regulations.

  • To coordinate with Investment team to ensure sufficient funds tax payments.
  • To prepare payment request forms and other supporting documents for all tax payments.
  • To prepare the monthly income tax and deferred tax provisions and to ensure the necessary tax entries are posted to the relevant accounts accurately.
  • Ad-Hoc
  • Perform other ad-hoc duties as assigned by the superior as and when required.

    We are looking for people who

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accountancy, Finance, or a related field, or a recognised professional qualification (ACCA, CIMA, MICPA, ICAEW, CPA, etc.)
  • 1–3 years of relevant experience in finance or accounting; fresh graduates are also encouraged to apply
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and experience with accounting systems (e.g., Oracle Financials) preferred.
  • Knowledge of taxation and / or experience in the insurance or takaful industry is an advantage.
  • Strong analytical, numerical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication abilities.
  • Highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to meet deadlines under pressure.
