Job Purpose :
The Head of APEL & Micro-Credential leads the strategy, development, implementation, and management of Accreditation of Prior Experiential Learning (APEL) and micro-credential initiatives in alignment with national regulatory standards and the University's strategic goals. The role focuses on promoting lifelong learning pathways, expanding flexible learning opportunities, and ensuring compliance with MQA and MOHE requirements.
Key Responsibilities :
Strategic Leadership & Management
- Develop and implement the overall strategy for APEL and micro-credential programs in line with institutional objectives.
- Ensure compliance with all policies and guidelines issued by MQA, MOHE, and other relevant authorities.
- Lead the planning, design, and execution of micro-credential courses across faculties.
- Drive growth in student enrolment through APEL and micro-credential pathways.
Academic & Quality Assurance
Oversee the development of frameworks, policies, and procedures for APEL assessment and micro-credential implementation.Ensure academic quality, accreditation, and standardization of all programs.Coordinate training and capacity building for academic and administrative staff involved in APEL and micro-credentials.Operational Management
Manage end-to-end APEL assessment processes (APEL.A, APEL.C, APEL.Q) and micro-credential program delivery.Collaborate with faculties to integrate micro-credentials into existing and new academic programs.Monitor progress, performance, and reporting of departmental KPIs.Stakeholder Engagement
Engage with industry, professional bodies, and government agencies to identify relevant skills and competencies for micro-credentials.Promote lifelong learning opportunities and alternative pathways to prospective learners.Represent the university in external APEL and micro-credential related forums.Data, Reporting & Continuous Improvement
Analyze learner data, program uptake, and industry trends to improve offerings.Prepare periodic reports and updates for university management and regulatory bodies.Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance learner experience and institutional reputation.Key Requirements :
Master's or Doctorate degree in Education, Lifelong Learning, Curriculum Development, or related field.Minimum 8–10 years of experience in higher education, with at least 5 years in academic leadership roles.Strong knowledge of APEL policies, MQA guidelines, and micro-credential frameworks.Experience in curriculum design, assessment methods, and online learning platforms.Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.Strong analytical and problem-solving ability with a focus on innovation and continuous improvement.Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) :
Number of approved and accredited APEL applications (APEL.A, APEL.C, APEL.Q).Growth in student enrolment through APEL and micro-credential pathways.Number of micro-credential courses developed, launched, and completed.Compliance with MQA and MOHE audit requirements.Industry partnerships and collaborations established.Student satisfaction and completion rates for micro-credential programs.Job Type : Full-time
