ACADEMIC FELLOW (AF1) - Department of Applied Arts and Design Kulliyyah of Architecture and Environmental Design

International Islamic University Malaysia is seeking an Academic Fellow to join the Department of Applied Arts and Design. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in shaping the minds of the next generation of Interior Design / Interior Architecture professionals. Responsibilities will span across teaching, curriculum development, research, and community engagement, aiming to deliver an outstanding educational experience. Key Responsibilities : Curriculum Development : Design and update comprehensive Interior Design / Interior Architecture courses that reflect the latest industry trends and academic standards. Teaching Excellence : Deliver engaging lectures, tutorials, and lab sessions across a variety of Interior Design / Interior Architecture subjects, incorporating cutting-edge technologies and software. Student Assessment : Create and evaluate examinations, assignments, and projects to gauge student knowledge and skills, providing constructive feedback. Research Contribution : Conduct and publish impactful research in the Interior Design / Interior Architecture field and supervise student research projects and theses. Professional Development : Remain current with technological advancements and pedagogical strategies through continued education and active participation in academic communities. Community and Industry Engagement : Collaborate with industry experts to ensure curriculum relevance and foster opportunities for student placements. Mentorship : Offer academic advice and personal mentorship to students, guiding them towards academic and professional success. Minimum Qualifications : Bachelor degree in Interior Design / Interior Architecture / Architecture Registered Interior Design with LAM (IDr.) 10 years minimum of working experience in Interior Design industries Minimum Competencies : Malaysian / International applicants are welcome to apply, fostering a diverse and inclusive academic environment. Prior experience in teaching and research in the higher education sector is an added advantage. Other Requirements : Candidates must possess a strong foundation and knowledge in Interior Design / Interior Architecture. Proficiency or specialization in any of the following areas is highly desirable : Interior Design Professional Practice, Building materials and finishes. Excellent communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills. A strong track record of published research and participation in the academic community is highly desirable. Language Qualifications : All candidates must have obtained : Credits in Bahasa Malaysia and English Language (including oral examination) at Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) level or equivalent qualification recognized by the Government (for Malaysian citizens). IELTS Band 6 / MUET Band 4. Candidate without any of these qualification will be required to sit for the IIUM English Language Proficiency Test.
