Job description

We are seeking a skilled Technical Software Engineer to manage, support, and optimize our medical imaging systems. This role is responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of PACS architecture, integration with clinical workflows, and maintaining high system availability to support radiology and healthcare teams.

The ideal candidate will have strong technical expertise in PACS components, DICOM / HL7 standards, server and database administration, networking, and storage technologies, combined with a solid understanding of radiology workflows and clinical needs.

You will be the go-to expert for advanced troubleshooting, system upgrades, and workflow optimization, working closely with radiology staff, hospital IT, and vendor / R&D teams. This role also involves planning and executing implementations, migrations, and upgrades, while maintaining clear documentation and ensuring compliance with best practices.

Key Responsibilities

1. Core Technical Knowledge :

  • PACS Architecture

Understanding of core components (Acquisition Gateways, DICOM Modality Worklist, PACS Server, Viewing Workstations, Routing and Distribution).

  • DICOM & HL7 Standards
  • Understand DICOM tags, SOP Classes, Transfer Syntaxes, C-STORE, C-FIND, C-MOVE, and C-ECHO.

  • Networking
  • Knowledge of TCP / IP, Firewalls & Ports, Bandwidth and Latency.

  • Server & Database Administration
  • Proficiency in Windows Server OS, Experience with VMware, Basic administrative skills for Oracle DB and SQL.

    Storage Technologies

    Understanding different storage tiers (SSD, SAS, SATA, Cloud).

    Concepts of SAN (Storage Area Network) and NAS (Network Attached Storage).

    Clinical & Healthcare Workflow Knowledge

    Radiology Workflow

    Understand entire patient journey from order to interpretation to report delivery.

  • Modality Operations
  • Basic understanding of how the major imaging modalities (CT, MR, US, XA, CR / DR) operate and send data.

    Radiologist's Perspective

    Basic understand what a radiologist needs from a workstation—speed, hanging protocols, key image notes, etc.

    Essential Soft Skills

    Troubleshooting & Problem-Solving

    This is your primary day-to-day activity. With logical, methodical approach to diagnose issues from the application layer down to the network cable.

  • Communication
  • Able to communicate well to different level of users group (Radiology staff, Hospital IT, R&D team).

  • Project Management
  • For implementations, upgrades, or migrations, to be able to plan, coordinate with multiple teams, and manage timelines.

    Documentation

    Meticulous documentation of configurations, issues, and resolutions is needed.

    Common Responsibilities

    Installing, configuring, and upgrading PACS applications and interfaces.

  • Providing advanced support : Resolving Level 2 / 3 tickets that the help desk can't handle.
  • Monitoring system health : Proactively ensuring all components are online and performing optimally.
  • Qualifications & Skills

  • Strong knowledge of PACS architecture, DICOM, and HL7 standards.
  • Proficiency in Windows Server, VMware, Oracle DB / SQL administration.
  • Understanding of networking (TCP / IP, firewalls, bandwidth / latency).
  • Familiarity with storage technologies (SAN, NAS, SSD, cloud).
  • Awareness of radiology workflow and imaging modalities (CT, MR, US, XA, CR / DR).
  • Excellent troubleshooting, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Ability to manage projects, coordinate with multiple stakeholders, and meet timelines.
  • Detail-oriented with strong documentation discipline.
