Job Responsibility
- Supervise Physical-Chemical Treatment Processes. Oversee daily operation of treatment units (screening, pH adjustment, coagulation, flocculation, sedimentation, dissolved air flotation, filtration, and chemical dosing) to ensure effective pollutant removal
- Compliance with Legal Effluent Limits. Ensure treated effluent meets DOE discharge standards at all times; take immediate corrective action in case of exceedances.
- Monitoring, Sampling & Testing. Conduct regular sampling and analysis of influent and effluent for pH, COD, BOD, TSS, oil & grease, heavy metals, and other site-specific parameters.
- Process Optimization. Adjust chemical dosing and treatment settings based on test results to improve efficiency and maintain compliance.
- Operational Troubleshooting. Identify, report, and resolve operational issues such as abnormal settling, sludge bulking, or equipment malfunctions.
- Performance Monitoring & Calibration. Supervise calibration and maintenance of flow meters, sensors, and dosing controllers. Track KPIs, including treatment efficiency and chemical usage.
- Documentation & Recordkeeping. Maintain operational logbooks, flow diagrams, compliance reports, and equipment maintenance records for internal and external audits.
- Audit & Inspection Preparation. Compile and present monitoring data, permits, and reports during DOE inspections and third-party audits.
- Sludge Management. Handle, classify (e.g., SW204), label, store, and dispose of sludge in compliance with the Scheduled Wastes Regulations 2005.
- Maintenance Supervision. Oversee preventive and corrective maintenance of pumps, agitators, dosing units, and analyzers to minimize downtime.
- Training & Guidance. Train plant operators on SOPs, chemical handling, and safety procedures.
Job Requirements
Bachelor’s degree (or Diploma in some cases) in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Health & Safety, or a related fieldMinimum 3–5 years of relevant working experience in wastewater treatment, effluent management, or environmental compliance.Experience in handling physical-chemical treatment systems, monitoring, and regulatory reporting is highly preferred.Mandatory : CePIETSO-PCP (Certified Environmental Professional in the Operation of Industrial Effluent Treatment Systems – Physical Chemical Processes) certification issued by DOEAdditional certifications (advantageous) : CePSWaM, CePSO, or ISO 14001 EMS knowledge.Strong knowledge of Environmental Quality Act 1974, Industrial Effluent Regulations 2009, and DOE compliance requirements.Familiarity with wastewater treatment unit operations (screening, pH adjustment, coagulation, flocculation, sedimentation, DAF, filtration, chemical dosing).Hands-on experience in sampling, laboratory testing (COD, BOD, TSS, oil & grease, heavy metals), and data interpretation.Competent in managing Scheduled Waste (SW204 sludge) according to regulations.Proficient in preparing DOE reports (EPR, OER, audit documents).Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills for treatment plant operations.Job Benefits
