As Head of Human Resources based in Penang, you will be entrusted with leading the full spectrum of HR strategy and operations across several dynamic businesses within the group. Your expertise will be called upon to ensure robust compensation frameworks are maintained in line with market standards while upholding rigorous compliance with local employment regulations. In addition to these strategic responsibilities, you will oversee essential HR operations—leveraging data analytics for actionable insights—and manage administrative processes that keep daily office life running smoothly. Success in this role means being a dependable partner to leadership teams while always advocating for employees\' well-being.

  • Collaborate with Senior Management to design and implement comprehensive HR strategies that support the overall objectives of the group and promote sustainable business growth.
  • Lead workforce planning efforts, including organisational development and succession planning, to ensure the right talent is in place for current and future needs.

  • Develop and implement effective retention strategies to reduce turnover rates while supporting leadership development, training programmes, and career advancement frameworks.
  • Ensure fair, competitive compensation structures by managing salary reviews, benefits administration, rewards systems, payroll governance, and compliance in partnership with Finance teams.
  • Act as a trusted advisor to both management and employees on all HR-related matters, providing guidance on policies, procedures, grievance handling, disciplinary cases, and employee relations.
  • Maintain strict compliance with Malaysian labour laws, statutory requirements, and internal company policies to mitigate risk and uphold best practices.
  • Oversee HR operations including systems management, records maintenance, statutory reporting obligations, data analytics for workforce insights, and effective budget management.
  • Supervise general administrative functions to guarantee smooth day-to-day office operations while aligning HR processes with broader administrative services such as office policies and staff record management.
  • What you bring

To excel as Head of Human Resources in this influential role based in Penang, you will bring extensive hands-on experience from senior HR positions where you have shaped policy at both strategic and operational levels. Your academic background will be complemented by professional certifications that demonstrate your commitment to continuous learning within the field. Your approachability combined with strong stakeholder management abilities enables you to build trust quickly among colleagues at all levels. You are adept at navigating complex recruitment landscapes for critical hires while simultaneously investing in long-term leadership development frameworks that empower others. Experience gained from multi-site organisations equips you well for managing distributed teams effectively. If your background includes time spent within hospitality or non-profit environments—where empathy and adaptability are paramount—you will find yourself especially well-suited to this collaborative setting.

  • A Bachelor\'s degree in Human Resources Management, Business Administration or a related field is required; additional HR certification would be considered an advantage for this position.
  • At least 10 years of progressive experience within human resources functions is essential, including a minimum of 3 years spent in a senior management capacity overseeing multi-faceted teams or departments.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of Malaysian labour law coupled with practical experience applying statutory requirements within complex organisational settings is vital.
  • Demonstrated track record of success in talent retention strategies as well as succession planning initiatives that support ongoing career development for employees at all levels.
