The Opportunity
Our client, a highly respected and long-established Australian financial services organization providing wealth management, trustee, and corporate fiduciary services, is embarking on an exciting digital transformation journey. You will be part of their Technology & Projects division, contributing to the modernization of their data infrastructure and supporting the company’s strategic move toward cloud-based solutions. Reporting to the Head of Solutions Delivery, the Database Administrator will play a key role in managing, optimizing, and evolving SQL Server environments — both on-premises and in Azure Cloud. This position offers a dynamic opportunity to work closely with enterprise architects, developers, and infrastructure and security teams to ensure robust, secure, and high-performing database systems that underpin critical business operations and data governance initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage, monitor, and maintain multiple SQL Server environments across all business systems.
- Design and implement optimized database architecture and integration solutions.
- Support and lead migration from on-premise to Azure SQL and other cloud data platforms.
- Develop, review, and enforce security controls, access management, and backup standards.
- Identify and troubleshoot performance bottlenecks to improve system reliability.
- Create and maintain detailed documentation for all database configurations and procedures.
- Collaborate with enterprise, software, and infrastructure teams to deliver technical solutions.
- Provide technical guidance on database best practices and process improvements.
- Contribute to continuous enhancement of data governance, compliance, and reporting processes.
Skills, Experience & Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field.Minimum of 4 years’ experience in database administration and support across enterprise systems.Strong expertise in Microsoft SQL Server, including performance tuning and troubleshooting.Proven experience with Azure SQL and other cloud-based data platforms.Solid understanding of database security, access control, and backup strategies.Experience in data integration, SDLC methodologies, and production support.Familiarity with data warehouse, data lake, and Power BI environments is advantageous.Knowledge of Azure Arc, PaaS, and Purview is highly regarded.Technical certifications such as MCDBA, MSCE Data Management and Analytics are a plus.ASW Offers
