About the Role
We are seeking a Senior Rotating Equipment Engineer to join our team based in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. This is a fixed term employment role.
Responsibilities
- Perform engineering detailed design on current projects for onshore / offshore projects and to fulfill Departmental needs and support engineering operation within the Company.
- DESIGN BASIS, CODE & STANDARD : Understand and apply design codes, industry standards and practices such as API / ISO / ASME, interpret requirements to meet project needs; resolve problems / troubleshoot based on Codes & Standards interpretation; understand code limitations and apply accurately; review client specifications (e.g., PTS, DEP) to meet contract requirements; review and raise clarifications on ITB / Client / Contract documents when ambiguities exist.
- KNOWLEDGE OF ROTATING EQUIPMENT : Possess in-depth understanding of rotating equipment used in oil & gas, refinery, and related industries for onshore and offshore applications; apply knowledge of hydraulics, thermodynamics, aerodynamics, rotordynamics, and combustion; evaluate equipment performance with limited vendor dependence; review vendor options and provide detailed technical evaluations (TBE / TBT) and interface reviews with in-house and vendor P&IDs; witness Vendor FAT / shop testing and provide feedback; resolve issues during testing; respond to Site Technical Queries (STQ); explore cost-saving and energy-efficient measures; review subordinate documents and guide junior staff; participate in Hazop and close out actions.
- MATERIAL SELECTION : Understand material types for various services (wet CO2, sour, low-temperature, toxic etc.) and evaluate material proposals; assess material grades based on process input, material selection reports, and corrosion studies.
- WORKING DELIVERABLES : Prepare timely deliverables such as calculation spreadsheets, technical data sheets, equipment specifications, material requisitions, technical clarifications, TBE / TBT, equipment selection studies, and inputs to other disciplines; provide weight data and foundation loading inputs; conduct compressor aero / thermodynamics studies; select drivers and de-rate; review Vendor data to ensure compliance with Codes, Standards, local regulations and project requirements; interface with piping / stress, process, civil, electrical, structural and instrumentation disciplines; resolve interface issues and conduct Vendor Data Review (VDR) meetings when needed.
- FABRICATION KNOWLEDGE : Understand fabrication processes, critical paths, and how they influence equipment delivery; anticipate to improve delivery schedules.
- LEAD ENGINEER ROLE : If assigned as Lead Engineer, commit to project values, monitor progress to meet delivery objectives, execute with appropriate resources, and provide pro-active leadership and resource planning.
- TECHNICAL AUDITS : Carry out technical audits as requested and investigate / resole quality complaints or incidents, including client or project manager requests.
- OTHERS : Exercise professional judgment, deliver quality engineering outputs to meet JV / Client expectations, fulfill QA / HSE, and supervise / coach junior engineers.
Knowledge & Qualifications
Extensive experience (senior level) in rotating equipment for oil & gas / related industries; strong knowledge in hydraulics, thermodynamics, aerodynamics, rotordynamics, and related disciplines; demonstrated ability to evaluate equipment options and perform technical assessments; experience in leading / design reviews and interfacing with multiple disciplines; capable of vendor FAT and site support; strong problem-solving and communication skills.Material / Corrosion knowledge with ability to assess and select appropriate materials for various service conditions.Working Arrangements
