Senior Manager, Ocean Freight Your Responsibilities 1. Strategic and Service Leadership

  • Lead end-to-end ocean freight operation, including managing team’s performance
  • Build and maintain strong vendor relationships to secure competitive rates and space allocations.
  • Monitor global trade lane performance and adjust routing or partners as needed.

2. Client Operations Support

  • Act as key escalation points for high-priority client shipments and operational challenges.
  • Collaborate with sales and account management teams to ensure operational alignment with client contracts and SLAs
  • Support onboarding of new clients from an operational perspective, ensuring smooth integration into ocean freight services.

    • 3. Carrier Procurement & Pricing Strategy

  • Lead or support the procurement of ocean freight capacity through direct negotiation.
  • Work with pricing and commercial teams to develop competitive client quotes and maintain margin targets.
  • Stay current on market trends and rate fluctuations to provide guidance to clients and internal stakeholders.

    • 4. Operational Excellence & Compliance

  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on process efficiency, cost savings, and service consistency.
  • Ensure all ocean freight activities comply with international trade regulations, custom laws, and company policies.

    • 5. Team Leadership & Development

  • Manage and mentor a team of ocean freight coordinators, supervisors, and documentation specialists.
  • Promote a culture of accountability, service excellence, and professional development.
  • Ensure staffing levels and team capabilities meet business volume and complexity.

    • 6. Other tasks entailed in the capacity of this role

    Your Profile

  • Experienced in international logistics or freight forwarding, with at least 3 years in ocean freight management
  • Strong leadership and people management experience in a client-focused logistics environment.
  • Proven successful in negotiating with ocean carriers.
  • Deep knowledge of INCOTERMS, global shipping regulations, and documentation requirements
  • Familiarity with digital freight platforms and shipment visibility tools will be an advantage.
