2. Scope

As a Pharmacy Practice / Clinical Pharmacy Lecturer, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the minds of the next generation of pharmacists. Your responsibilities will span across teaching, curriculum development, research, and community engagement, aiming to deliver an outstanding educational experience. This role is perfect for individuals passionate about clinical skills / pharmacy practices, technology and education, eager to contribute to the academic and professional development of our students.

The candidates shall be a member of the staff of the Department of Pharmacy Practice assigned by Kulliyyah of Pharmacy and the candidates shall perform teaching, examining, and research duties and such other obligations as are normally required of an academic staff member of the IIUM.

The candidates should also undertake moral and religious obligations in relation to their colleagues and students as part and parcel of their duties as a member of the academic staff of IIUM.

As a lecturer and member of the academic staff, the candidate is required to attend any meetings related to administrative positions he / she may hold. This attendance is mandated by appointments made under the IIUM or through administrative directives issued by the Rector, Dean, or Head of the Kulliyyah / Centre / Department / Institute / Office / Mahallah.

3. Key Responsibilities

  • Curriculum Development : Design and update comprehensive Pharmacy Practice / Clinical Pharmacy courses that reflect the latest industry trends and academic standards.
  • Teaching Excellence : Deliver engaging lectures, tutorials, and practical sessions across a variety of Pharmacy Practice subjects, incorporating cutting-edge technologies and software.
  • Student Assessment : Create and evaluate examinations, assignments, and projects to gauge student knowledge and skills, providing constructive feedback.
  • Research Contribution : Participate in research and publication activities in the Pharmacy Practice field (if applicable).
  • Professional Development : Remain current with technological advancements and pedagogical strategies through continued education and active participation in academic communities.
  • Community and Industry Engagement : Collaborate with industry experts to ensure curriculum relevance and foster opportunities for student placements.
  • Mentorship : Offer academic advice and personal mentorship to students, guiding them towards academic and professional success.

4. Minimum Qualifications

  • Candidates must hold a Master’s and PhD Degree in Pharmacy Practice / Clinical Pharmacy from a recognised university.
  • Only Malaysian applicants are invited to apply, fostering a diverse and inclusive academic environment.
  • Particularly in a higher education context, the role typically encompasses a blend of academic qualifications, teaching abilities, research skills, and personal attributes that enable effective education delivery, student engagement, and contributions to the academic community. Experience in a hospital or community pharmacy setting is compulsory.

    6. Other Requirements

  • Candidates must possess a strong foundation and knowledge in Pharmacy Practice / Clinical Pharmacy.
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills.
  • A strong track record of published research and participation in the academic community is highly desirable.
  • 7. Language Qualifications

    All candidates must have obtained :

    Credits in Bahasa Malaysia and English language (including oral examination) at Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) level OR equivalent qualification recognised by the Government (for Malaysian citizens).

    IELTS Band 6 / MUET Band 4.

    Candidate without any of these qualifications will be required to sit for the IIUM English Language Proficiency Test.
