Job Description
- Lead and manage the overall talent recruitment strategy for the Kuala Lumpur office, including supervising the training, performance, and professional development of team members.
- Contribute to business development initiatives by identifying opportunities for growth, strengthening client relationships, and supporting the firm's strategic objectives.
- Collaborate with stakeholders such as entrepreneurs, C‑suite executives, investment bankers, and financial advisers to structure and strategise fundraising exercises through late‑stage financing or IPOs on the Main, ACE, and LEAP Markets of Bursa Malaysia, as well as listings on foreign exchanges.
- Oversee and coordinate comprehensive legal, financial, technical, and forensic due diligence processes for IPOs, mergers and acquisitions, takeovers, de‑listings, and other securities‑related corporate exercises.
- Advise publicly listed companies and target entities on transaction readiness, ensuring corporate formalities are properly observed, vendor and supplier relationships are formalised, and potential areas of risk are identified and mitigated.
- Draft, review, and negotiate a wide range of commercial and transactional agreements, including share sale and purchase agreements, joint venture arrangements, and consortium contracts.
- Collaborate closely with teams across the firm to maintain alignment with the firm's vision, values, and ethical standards, promoting a cohesive and high‑performing work culture.
- Take on additional responsibilities as they arise in line with the dynamic and fast‑paced environment.
- Serve as a key leader within the office, demonstrating initiative, professionalism, and commitment to delivering high‑quality legal and business solutions.
The Successful Applicant
A Successful Partner (Corporate & Commercial) Should
Hold a Law degree (LLB) from a highly regarded and internationally accredited university.Possess a current or previously valid Practising Certificate in Malaysia and / or other recognised jurisdictions.Brings at least ten (10) years of post‑qualification experience (PQE) as a practising lawyer and / or in‑house counsel within a multinational or cross‑border corporate environment.Demonstrate a strong background in managing and executing high‑value, cross‑border transactions, including mergers and acquisitions (M&A), corporate restructurings, investments, divestments, initial public offerings (IPOs), and foreign direct investment (FDI) ventures.Be experienced in advising publicly listed companies across multiple major stock exchanges, including Bursa Malaysia (BURSA), the Singapore Exchange (SGX), the Hong Kong Stock Exchange (HKEX), the Shenzhen Stock Exchange, and the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE).What's on Offer
