1.0 Job Summary

The Kitchen Steward is responsible for maintaining the cleanliness and organization of the kitchen, ensuring all kitchen equipment, utensils, and dishes are clean and properly stored. The role also involves waste management and assisting in kitchen operations as needed.

2.0 Key Responsibilities

  • Cleaning and Sanitizing :

Clean and sanitize kitchen equipment, utensils, dishes, and surfaces.

  • Ensure all work areas, including floors, are clean and free from debris.
  • Wash and sanitize pots, pans, and other cooking implements.
  • Operate and maintain dish washing machines.
  • Waste Management :
  • Collect and dispose of kitchen waste appropriately.

  • Separate recyclables and non-recyclables according to company policies.
  • Ensure trash bins are clean and emptied regularly.
  • Storage and Organization :
  • Properly store cleaned items in designated areas.

  • Maintain organization of kitchen storage areas.
  • Monitor and replenish cleaning supplies and kitchen consumables.
  • Support Kitchen Operations :
  • Assist chefs and kitchen staff as needed.

  • Help with basic food preparation tasks such as peeling and chopping.
  • Ensure compliance with food safety and hygiene standards.
  • Maintenance :
  • Report any maintenance or repair needs to the Director of Culinary.

  • Ensure that all kitchen equipment is in good working condition.
  • Health and Safety :
  • Adhere to health and safety regulations at all times.

  • Participate in safety training.
  • 3.0 Qualifications

    High school diploma or equivalent preferred. Previous experience in a similar role is a plus. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment. Strong attention to detail. Good communication and teamwork skills. Physical stamina to lift heavy items.
