Cross Light Capital is a Malaysian SC-regulated fund manager at the forefront of alternative investments. We have been licensed and operating since 2020 and are currently managing six wholesale unit trust funds.
Alternative investments form the cornerstone of our investment philosophy. We specialize in delivering institutional-quality access to strategies and asset classes that fall outside traditional equity and fixed income markets. Our expertise spans systematic trading strategies, hedge funds, private credit, digital assets, and other non-correlated return streams designed to enhance portfolio diversification and risk‑adjusted returns.
The Opportunity
As we continue to expand our fund offerings and scale our operations, we're strengthening our operational infrastructure to support our growth trajectory. We are seeking an experienced Head of Operations and Compliance to play a pivotal role in our continued growth.
This is a strategic hire that will work closely with our founders, and will be in charge of managing a small team of operations and compliance analysts. This role offers the unique opportunity to shape operational excellence at a small and dynamic investment firm with direct exposure to fund management, regulatory engagement, and institutional best practices.
Given that we are a small firm, this role may be equivalent to a Senior Manager at a larger firm.
Key Responsibilities
Operations Management :
Oversee day‑to‑day operations including settlements, subscription / redemption processing, investor servicing and onboarding
Manage relationships with fund administrators, trustees, auditors, and other service providers
Implement and enhance operational workflows, procedures, and internal controls
Coordinate quarterly and annual reporting processes for all funds
Support new fund launches from an operational standpoint
Problem‑solve, and manage ad‑hoc requests / queries where required
Compliance and Legal :
Manage compliance team to adhere to SC Malaysia regulations and guidelines for all fund activities
Ensure that regulatory reporting obligations are met
Maintain comprehensive compliance documentation across operations
Liaise with SC Malaysia and other regulatory bodies as required
Develop and maintain compliance policies, procedures, and risk frameworks
Conduct regular compliance reviews and internal audits
Oversee KYC / AML procedures and investor onboarding processes
Strategic Support :
Project manage across operations and compliance teams such that all deadlines are met
Collaborate with investment team on operational aspects of new strategies and products
Contribute to business development initiatives (e.g. due diligence processes, drafting / review of legal documentation)
Drive process improvements and operational efficiency initiatives
Ideal Qualifications and Experience
7‑10 years of experience in operations, compliance, or accounting; with at least a few years in asset management
Proven track record of building and implementing operational and compliance frameworks
Prior experience with operations in the context of fund management
Prior experience managing and training a small team internally, and managing relationships with external service providers and regulators
SCLE (SC Licensing Examinations) or other professional certification in finance / accounting is a plus
Deep understanding of operations in fund management (e.g. settlements, fund administration, NAV processes, investor servicing and onboarding)
Broad understanding of finance, investments, and local regulations
Broad understanding of legal documents in the context of fund management (e.g. information memorandums, trust deeds, distribution agreements)
Excellent organizational and project management capabilities
Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills with attention to detail
Ability to work independently and take ownership and accountability of critical functions
Adaptable and comfortable working in a less structured, but dynamic and growing organization
Proficient with the use of technology and AI
Some exposure to sales / marketing / investor relations is a plus
