Description
The Corporate Action Analyst is responsible for managing and processing corporate action events while focusing on claims resolution and breaks management. The role involves ensuring timely and accurate execution of corporate actions, resolving breaks and claims efficiently, and maintaining compliance with regulatory and operational standards. The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical skills, a solid understanding of financial markets, and expertise in corporate actions and claims management.
Key Responsibilities :
Corporate Action Processing :
Monitor and process a range of corporate action events, including cash dividends, stock dividends and coupons.
Review and interpret corporate action notifications from custodians, agents, and depositories.
Ensure accurate allocation of entitlements to client accounts and timely execution of events.
Claims Management :
Investigate and resolve claims arising from corporate action discrepancies, ensuring timely and accurate resolution.
Liaise with custodians, brokers, and counterparties to address claims and minimize financial exposure.
Maintain detailed records of claims and analyze trends to identify root causes and prevent recurrence.
Breaks Management :
Reconcile and investigate breaks or mismatches in entitlements, transactions, or cash flows related to corporate actions.
Collaborate with internal teams to resolve breaks efficiently and ensure data accuracy across systems.
Escalate unresolved breaks or high-risk issues to management promptly, providing detailed analysis and recommendations.
Stakeholder Communication :
Act as a key point of contact for internal teams (operations, risk, compliance) and external parties (custodians, brokers, depositories) regarding claims and breaks.
Provide timely updates and reports to stakeholders on claims and breaks resolution progress.
Compliance & Risk Management :
Ensure all activities comply with regulatory requirements and internal policies.
Identify and mitigate potential risks related to corporate actions, claims, and breaks.
Process Improvement :
Collaborate with teams to enhance workflows, systems, and controls for claims and breaks management.
Stay updated on industry best practices and regulatory changes to ensure compliance and efficiency.
Requirements
Qualifications : Experience :
Prior experience in corporate actions, claims management, or breaks resolution within financial operations.
Familiarity with financial instruments (equities, bonds, derivatives) and corporate action events.
Skills :
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a focus on accuracy and attention to detail.
Proficiency in financial systems and tools (e.g., Bloomberg, SWIFT, or proprietary systems).
Effective communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to manage relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
Ability to manage multiple tasks under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
Preferred Qualifications :
Knowledge of global markets, settlement processes, and custody operations.
Experience with cross-border claims and breaks management.
Advanced Excel skills or experience with data analysis tools.
Professional certifications such as CFA, CISI, or similar are a plus.
