Mechatronic Engineer – AOI, Robotics & Motion Systems

Ansell is looking for a Mechatronic Engineer to join our team in Malacca, Malaysia .
In this position you will play a vital role in designing, improving, and maintaining robotic systems, motion control units, and AOI (Automated Optical Inspection) systems used in surgical glove production and packing lines. This role ensures smooth automation performance, defect detection accuracy, precision handling, and system reliability while supporting Industry 4.0, APS (Autonomous Maintenance, Progressive Maintenance), and continuous improvement initiatives.

What your role will be?
AOI (Automated Optical Inspection) Systems
Develop, calibrate, and maintain AOI systems for glove surface inspection, pinhole detection, cuff defects, and contamination detection.Optimize image processing algorithms, lighting setup, and camera accuracy to reduce false rejects and improve FPY.Conduct root cause analysis for AOI false detection, miss-detection, or camera downtime.Work with Process / Quality teams to improve defect classification database and integrate with MES / SCADA.Robotics & Motion Control
Program, install, and troubleshoot robotic arms, servo systems, pick-and-place units for glove transfer, stacking, packing, and box loading.Design robotic end-effectors (grippers, suction tools) suitable for latex / nitrile glove handling without deformation.Configure motion controllers, servo drives, linear actuators for synchronized motion during stripping, packaging and carton sealing operations.Ensure safe robot operation with proper safety sensors, interlocks, and ISO 10218 compliance.Mechatronic System Integration
Integrate mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and control systems into fully functional automated machines.Support design and enhancement of dipping line mechanical systems, glove formers loading, brush systems, transfer conveyors, and packing automation.Collaborate with PLC / SCADA team to integrate motion systems with OT infrastructure (Siemens / Allen Bradley / Omron etc.).Participate in design and fabrication of prototypes or jigs using CAD & simulation tools.Reliability & Continuous Improvement
Improve system uptime, reduce breakdowns through PM / PdM (vibration, thermography, camera lens cleaning schedules).Implement data-driven improvements via AOI rejection data, motion accuracy logs, and robotic downtime records.Lead technical troubleshooting and Kaizen activities for robotic / motion failures on lines.Documentation & Governance
Develop and maintain system manuals, backup programs, wiring diagrams, robotic program archives, camera calibration logs.Comply with safety, GMP, and global engineering standards.Support change management, version control, and cybersecurity requirements for robots and smart devices.What will you bring to Ansell?
Degree in Mechatronics / Robotics / Automation / Electrical Engineering.Certified training in OT / IIoT / Industrial Network / Smart Manufacturing is an added advantage.Experience in robotics, motion systems, AOI, or automation in manufacturing environment (preferably glove / medical devices / FMCG).Experience in PLC / SCADA / MES / IIoT integration preferred.Prior experience leading digitalization / Industry 4.0 projects is highly desirable.CAD (SolidWorks / AutoCAD), basic machining & tooling knowledgeJoin us to lead the world to a safer future, apply today!
