Assistant Director of Safety & Security (Pre Opening) - Waldorf Astoria

We’re looking for a forward‑thinking Assistant Director of Safety & Security who will shape a secure environment where luxury meets peace of mind.
What will I be doing?
- Leadership & Operational Oversight – assist in managing daily security operations, ensure the safety of guests and staff, and assume full departmental responsibilities in the absence of the Director of Safety & Security.
- Safety & Risk Management – apply knowledge of fire prevention regulations, identify and mitigate safety hazards, plan and execute emergency drills, and coordinate rescue operations during incidents.
- Compliance & Documentation – maintain legal and hotel‑specific documentation, including certifications, logs, and SOPs, and ensure timely reporting and compliance with internal and external regulations.
- Training & Development – conduct safety and fire prevention training for team members, deliver advanced training to Safety & Security Officers, and organize drills for the hotel’s Voluntary Fire Brigade.
- Investigative & Preventive Skills – investigate fire incidents, criminal activities, and suspicious behavior; implement preventive measures to maintain a secure environment.
- Event & VIP Security Planning – develop security plans for high‑profile events and VIP guest visits, coordinating with internal teams and external agencies.
- Stakeholder Engagement – build and maintain strong relationships with local law enforcement, fire departments, and other government bodies, acting as a liaison to support hotel interests.
What are we looking for?
Diploma or Degree in Security Management or a related discipline.Proven experience in a safety and security management role, preferably within a hotel or hospitality environment.Pre‑opening experience is an added advantage.Prior experience in law enforcement, military service, or corporate security is an advantage.Strong knowledge of local laws and regulations related to safety and security, and ability to implement safety protocols that align with national legislation and municipal requirements.Hands‑on experience with CCTV systems, access control mechanisms, fire safety infrastructure, and emergency response procedures.Skilled in report writing, incident investigation, and conducting risk assessments.Proficient in English; fluency in additional languages is an asset.Certifications in First Aid, Fire Safety, or Crisis Management are preferred.Proven leadership capabilities with effective team management skills.Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.Location
