Data Science & Engineering Team Lead – ROCKWOOL Group (Malaysia)

Overview

We are looking for a Team Lead to join our Data Science & Engineering team based in Malaysia. The role reports to the manager of the Data Science & Engineering team in Denmark and will lead a team of 5 data scientists, data engineers, and ML engineers.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage an operations team of 5 data scientists, data engineers & ML engineers, ensuring effective collaboration and performance.
  • Ensure all AI products developed by the team operate smoothly and efficiently.
  • Monitor and maintain AI product performance, addressing issues within established SLAs.
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to team members, fostering continuous learning.
  • Be a key part of setting up and recruiting roles for the local Malaysian team.
  • Coordinate with cross-functional teams to integrate and deploy AI solutions.
  • Conduct regular performance reviews and provide constructive feedback.
  • Manage and prioritize workload to ensure timely delivery of projects.

Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Mathematics, Statistics, or related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in Data Science; experience in manufacturing or GenAI preferred.
  • At least 2 years of people management experience.
  • Experience managing data scientists and engineers.
  • Experience with LLMs, transformer models, vector databases, RAG frameworks, LangChain, etc.
  • Excellent skills in Python, R, SQL, and cloud computing technologies.
  • Hands‑on experience deploying models and algorithms into production systems.
  • Experience with MLOps tools such as Kubeflow, MLflow.
  • Professional proficiency in English.
