We are seeking an experienced, results-driven Business Development Manager to drive growth and expand our market presence in the food trading sector. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of food commodities and trading practices, excellent market research and negotiation skills, and a proven track record in developing B2B client relationships and distribution channels.
Key Responsibilities
- Market Expansion : Identify, evaluate, and secure new business opportunities in domestic and international markets, especially in IKA, retail, wholesale, and institutional sectors.
- Client Relationship Management : Build and maintain strong, long-lasting client relationships. Ensure customer satisfaction through timely and effective communication and service delivery.
- Sales Strategy & Execution : Develop and execute strategic plans to achieve sales targets and expand customer base. Forecast sales performance and pipeline activity.
- Product Knowledge : Develop in-depth knowledge of the company’s food products, pricing, logistics, and sourcing capabilities to effectively position them in the market.
- Market Research : Conduct market analysis to identify trends, customer needs, and competitive activities. Provide insights to senior management for strategic planning.
- Trade Shows & Networking : Represent the company at trade shows, exhibitions, and networking events to promote products and build relationships with industry stakeholders.
- Collaboration : Work cross-functionally with procurement, logistics, and finance teams to ensure seamless order fulfillment and customer satisfaction.
- Reporting : Prepare regular reports on business development activities, revenue growth, client feedback, and market trends.
Qualifications & Skills
Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, International Trade, or related field.Minimum 3–5 years of experience in business development, sales, or trading in the food or FMCG industry .Strong network of contacts in the food industry, including distributors, retailers, and IKA.Excellent negotiation, communication, and presentation skills.Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.Fluent in English and Malay language.Willingness to travel domestically and internationally.Familiarity with trade regulations, import / export documentation, and logistics is a plus.How to Apply
