Job Overview

UCSI Schools is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Part-Time Music Teacher to join our academic team. The successful candidate will deliver inspiring music lessons, nurture students’ musical abilities, and cultivate a lifelong appreciation for music through engaging instruction in performance, theory, and creativity.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver interactive and engaging music lessons on a part‑time schedule, covering music theory, instrumental practice, and vocal techniques.
  • Teach students to play a variety of musical instruments and enhance their listening, composing, and performance skills.
  • Encourage creativity through activities such as songwriting, improvisation, and music composition.
  • Assist in organising and preparing students for school concerts, recitals, and music‑related events.
  • Foster a positive, inclusive, and supportive classroom environment that inspires students’ confidence and love for music.
  • Assess student progress through practical assessments, performances, and reports while providing constructive feedback.
  • Incorporate technology and digital tools into music lessons where appropriate.
  • Collaborate with other teachers and departments to enrich the school’s music curriculum and extracurricular programs.
  • Participate in selected school activities, such as cultural events and performances, as part of the music program.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Music, Music Education, or a related field.
  • Recognised teaching qualification (e.g. PGCE, B.Ed, or equivalent).
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience in music education.
  • Proficiency in teaching various musical instruments (e.g. piano, guitar, violin) and vocal training.
  • Strong classroom management, organisational, and communication skills.
  • Experience teaching the Cambridge curriculum (preferred but not mandatory).
  • Passion for music education, performance, and inspiring student creativity.
