About the role

Sai Asia Builders Sdn Bhd, a leading construction company based in Sungai Petani, Kedah, is seeking an experienced Quantity Surveyor to join our dynamic team. As a Quantity Surveyor, you will play a crucial role in the planning, estimating, and cost management of our construction projects. This is a full-time position with opportunities for growth and development within the organization.

What you'll be doing

  • Reviewing construction plans and preparing quantity requirements.
  • Scrutinizing maintenance and material costs, as well as contracts to ensure the best deals.
  • Liaising with site managers, clients, contractors, and subcontractors.
  • Timely submission for tender participation with thorough knowledge of market rates for interior finishes, materials and joinery works.
  • Documenting any changes in design and updating budgets.
  • Meeting clients to determine their needs and discuss any areas that need revising for price or feasibility
  • Calculating material quantities and costs, labour costs and an achievable project timeframe
  • Negotiating labour contracts and schedules
  • Keep track of construction materials and inventory
  • Prepare interim claims and verify subcontractors final quotation / invoice
  • Analyse completed projects to determine ROI and compare costs
  • Measuring and estimating of construction progress made at site and submit progress claims in timely manner
  • Legal and demand letters issued via company solicitors, without delays.
  • Producing project budgeting for feasibility studies
  • Traveling from the office to various sites as required.
  • Contract administration and reporting to high management

What we're looking for

  • Bachelor's degree in quantity surveying, construction engineering, management, or related field
  • 2-4 years of general construction estimating experience, financial experience, interior materials and finishes costing, construction experience in interior related projects of a size from 500k -5.0M
  • In-depth understanding of interior construction, materials, pricing, and industry
  • Able to analyse problems and strategize for better solutions
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills
  • Keen judgment and decision-making ability
  • Problem-solving and troubleshooting capabilities
  • Excellent negotiating and interpersonal skills.
  • A valid driver's license and a laptop to work with.
  • Meticulous attention to detail and accuracy of work
  • Possess a strong work ethic, good organizational skills and can meet strict deadlines
