As the Senior Buyer – Packaging, you will focus on strategic sourcing, supplier relationship management, and negotiating favorable terms for packaging materials. You will play a crucial role in building and executing category strategies, ensuring cost-effective, high-quality, and timely delivery of packaging. The role also involves developing and implementing purchasing strategies, managing supplier performance, and collaborating with internal teams to optimize packaging solutions. This position reports to the Procurement Manager.
Key Responsibilities :
- Work with Global Procurement Team to support internal procedures and execute purchasing and supplier strategies.
- Perform tactical purchasing using an ERP system, optimizing inventory based on current and future demand.
- Identify and develop new packaging suppliers, negotiate contracts and ensure continuity of supply.
- Ensure materials and products are cost-effective, reliable, and high quality, while providing recommendations to optimize asset shelf life.
- Negotiate pricing, contracts and payment terms with suppliers, prepare purchase orders and invoices, and manage cost control for operations.
- Provide sourcing and commercial input to cross‑functional project teams, particularly for innovative projects related to packaging materials.
- Stay informed about and supporting the business with any regulatory changes impacting packaging.
- Identify and implement process improvements to increase efficiency and leverage planning.
- Monitor performance metrics for supplier performance, supplier quality, internal order placement performance, buyer activity levels, financial performance and material shortage elimination.
- Liaise with counterparts in other functional areas such as Finance, Customer Service, Sales, Supply Chain, Quality, Warehouse personnel to ensure alignment of activities and objectives.
- Work closely with internal stakeholders, including R&D, engineering and other procurement teams, to align packaging strategies with business needs and innovation goals.
- Ensure the procurement process complies with RBA and ISO9001 procedures.
- Understand the requirements for a QMS, including documented information, planning and determining process interactions.
- Any other tasks assigned by the HOD from time to time.
The Ideal Candidate :
Bachelor’s degree in Procurement, Supply Chain, Business Administration or a related field.3-5 years of relevant work experience in procurement or supplier management preferred, or equivalent experience.Solid knowledge of procurement practices and supplier management.Strong analytical and critical thinking skills.Proactive and innovative problem‑solving skills.Ability to work in a team environment and independently.Capability to build and maintain effective teamwork relationships.Excellent Microsoft Office Skills : ERP experience is a plus.Possess own transportation.Only shortlisted candidates will be notified.
