EAL Teacher – Discovery Camps (January and February 2026)
Join us for an exciting opportunity at Discovery Camps 2026! We are dedicated to providing a supportive and enriching environment for non‑native English‑speaking students. Our camps focus on improving students’ language skills while fostering their personal and social development.
Role Overview
As an EAL Teacher at Discovery Camps 2026, you will be instrumental in helping students enhance their English language skills across speaking, listening, reading, and writing. You will work collaboratively with the Camp Director to ensure each camper receives the support they need to thrive academically and socially.
Key Responsibilities
- Commit to a 45‑hour work week, including lesson planning, teaching, and participation in additional camp activities. Extended hours may be required.
- Develop and implement engaging, student‑centred lesson plans tailored to individual learning needs, covering core English language skills (grammar, vocabulary, reading, writing, listening, and speaking).
- Prepare diverse materials, activities, and assessments for effective learning outcomes.
- Create a positive, inclusive classroom environment that encourages respect and engagement.
- Establish and enforce classroom rules, effectively managing student behaviour and addressing disciplinary issues constructively and professionally.
- Regularly evaluate student performance through various assessment methods, providing constructive feedback and maintaining accurate progress records.
- Adapt instruction to cater to students of varying abilities and learning styles, offering additional support or enrichment activities as needed.
- Plan and conduct co‑curricular activities post‑academic lessons to enrich student experiences.
- Accompany students on educational excursions, ensuring supervision, guidance, and engaging learning experiences; participate in at least one full‑day excursion weekly as per the camp roster.
- Assist in planning and organising celebratory events for the camp’s final day, including performances and presentations.
- Undertake additional responsibilities as assigned to ensure the success of the program and support the camp’s commitment to excellence in all operations.
Qualifications
Relevant teaching qualifications or certifications in English Language Teaching (EAL) are required.Experience teaching English as an Additional Language is preferred.Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to connect with students from diverse backgrounds.Application Process
