Senior Electrical Design Engineer (Construction) - KL

Randstad Malaysia invites candidates to apply for the Senior Electrical Design Engineer (Construction) role in Kuala Lumpur.

Overview

Our client is a leading global, integrated design‑build firm specialising in the delivery of complex capital projects for the industrial, manufacturing and advanced technology sectors.

Responsibilities

Lead Electrical Design : Take ownership of the electrical design from conceptual and detailed design phases through to construction support.
System Design : Design and specify key electrical systems, including medium and low‑voltage power distribution, switchgear, motor control centres, emergency power, lighting, and fire alarm systems.
Technical Calculations : Perform and review complex calculations, including load analysis, short circuit, arc flash (using ETAP, SKM, or similar software), and voltage drop.
Documentation : Prepare and review comprehensive design documentation, including single‑line diagrams, schematics, equipment layouts, cable schedules, and technical specifications.
Code Compliance : Ensure all designs adhere to local (e.g., Singapore Standards, Australian Standards) and international (IEC, BS) codes and standards.
Multidisciplinary Coordination : Work closely with mechanical, process, architectural, and structural engineers, as well as construction and project management teams, to deliver a fully integrated design.
Mentorship : Provide technical guidance, training, and mentorship to junior and intermediate engineers and designers.

Skills & Requirements

Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.

Minimum 5 years in electrical design with focus on industrial, manufacturing or complex commercial facilities.

Strong technical proficiency in power distribution, lighting, grounding, and low‑voltage systems.

Demonstrated experience with AutoCAD, Revit (BIM), and electrical design / analysis software (ETAP, SKM, DIALux / AGi32).

Deep understanding of IEC standards and / or relevant national codes within APAC region.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Collaborative, team‑oriented mindset and ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast‑paced environment.
