Job Summary :

UCSI Schools is seeking a compassionate, proactive, and student-centered School Counselor to join our academic team, supporting the well-being of students across both primary and secondary levels. The ideal candidate will promote the emotional, social, academic, and behavioral development of students while fostering a safe and supportive school environment. This role requires collaboration with educators, parents, and school leadership to help students thrive both personally and academically.

Key Responsibilities :

  • Provide individual and group counseling to students to address emotional, behavioral, academic, and social challenges.
  • Identify students' needs through observation, referrals, and assessments; develop intervention plans and track progress accordingly.
  • Support students in developing coping strategies, resilience, conflict resolution skills, and emotional regulation.
  • Promote a positive school climate by implementing programs related to character education, anti-bullying, mental health awareness, and peer relationships.
  • Guide students through academic planning, goal setting, time management, and study skills.
  • Assist students with transitions between grade levels and provide support for personal growth and career awareness where applicable.
  • Collaborate with teachers and school leaders to identify at-risk students and provide appropriate interventions or referrals.
  • Liaise with parents and guardians to support student development and provide regular updates on counseling progress when necessary.
  • Refer students to external specialists, psychologists, or support services when more intensive intervention is required.
  • Uphold ethical standards of confidentiality, professionalism, and care in all counseling activities.
  • Organize and participate in school events, awareness campaigns, parent workshops, and staff development related to student wellness.
  • Engage in ongoing professional development to stay current with best practices in school counseling and child psychology.

Requirements :

  • Bachelor’s degree in Counseling, Psychology, Education, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred).
  • Recognized counseling qualification or licensure (e.g., Postgraduate Diploma in Guidance & Counseling or equivalent).
  • Proven experience working with children and adolescents in a school or educational setting.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to build trust and maintain professional boundaries with students, staff, and families.
  • Culturally sensitive and respectful of diverse backgrounds and needs.
  • Passionate about student well-being and committed to supporting their holistic development.
